Ok I just went and saw the new Trek film out and I'm no Trekkie but damn it's such a goodflick.
Definitely worth catching.
It's funny as, the action in it is really good, especially towards the end, and it restarts the series really well.

Well, I am a trekkie, and I am in absolute shock as to how damn good that movie was.

Let me explain - if this movie wasn't perfect, it was going to be the death of Star Trek. The last tv show (Enterprise) and the last two movies (Insurrection and Nemisis) were absolutely woeful. And then to risk it on a re-boot...There was serious franchise killing potential there.

Then the cast came out - Chris Pine as Kirk? Simon Pegg as Scotty? JOHN CHO AS SULU?

All were brilliant, and I for one say JJ Abrams take a bow. You've pulled an absolute miracle off and saved Star Trek.

Aparently there's already not one, but two sequels in the works. Bring it on!!!

I was so happy when all the positive reviews came flooding on. Congrats to all involved for saving Star Trek.

Absolutely cannot wait to see it. Go Simon Pegg!!

Oh man! that song reminded me of something I did in primary school that i'd totally forgotten about.
There was a "show" night or something and every class did a small sketch, play, whatever.
We did a little thing to that music. I'm proud to say I played the part of Cap'n Kirk
Oh yeah, I'm good

saw it last night
was awesome. i rarely go see movies twice at the movies but ill be going back.

by the way i only liked tng, didnt like the other series at all, so i wouldnt consider myself a trekkie. this film is definately made for more of a mainstream audience but without losing the trek core.

very good

Yeah I think that was the key.

I'm a real trekkie - loved it all, Original, Next Gen, DS9, etc, etc....

I went with my girlfriend who's never seen trek in her life. She loved it, but what was great was the stuff that was thrown in exclusively for trekkies. Like when Chekov couldn't get the computer to recognise his voice because he pronounced Victor as 'Wictor' or McCoys sardonic wit when answering back to Spock (I'm a doctor - not a physicist). Whenever something like that happened, half the cinema laughed (the trekkies) everyone else wondered what we were laughing at. It was great.

I think I'lll go see it again Sunday.

How was Enterprise 'woeful'?

IMO it was getting interesting when Paramount cut it.

I agree it was really just starting to hit it' straps when it got cut. Although one of the reasons for that is because they wrapped up the convulted and ultimately go no where time travel war storyline.

It was getting good Willow, this was when Rick Berman and Brannon Braga stopped writing storylines by throwing darts at a wall of ideas and going 'ooooh it'd be good to f**k with things this way' and let Manny Coto - who knew what he was doing - run the show. But by that point the horse had well and truly bolted and noone was watching anymore.

As for the finale...appaling. Wasn't even a real Enterprise episode. Talk about a slap in the face to the fans and cast!

Just came back from the movie. I thought it was excellent. Had a good mix of action, comedy and the SFX were outstanding - as is to be expected.

The Romulans were just starting to be introduced. I thought it very good how the writers were introducing and explaining a lot of stories that were previously just taken for granted.

The explanation for the whole Klingon cranium thingy tied in well.

Well every Star Trek series has had one of those.

In NextGen, DS9 and Voyager, they could never make up their mind about the substance of holodecks and the doctor. But I always overlooked that as being a work in progress. lol

I didn't like the final episode either, obviously rushed. My understanding is that they were cut midstream.
