After their heart-stopping win in the Canterbury Cup decider last weekend, the Newtown Jets can put the finishing touches on a memorable year when they play Queensland champions the Burleigh Bears in the State Championship game on Grand Final day at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.

The Jets scored in the dying moments of overtime to claim victory last weekend, Will Kennedy on the end of some Billy Magoulias magic, however the two young Sharks will again need to be on their game against a Burleigh team which ran out comfortable winners in their Queensland Cup Grand Final.

Burleigh won their way through to a match-up with the Jets on the big stage at ANZ Stadium courtesy of a 28-10 win over Wynnum Manly.

The Jets emerged from the epic 90-minute Grand Final win over Wentworthville somewhat battered and bruised, with physios and medical staff needing to work overtime to get the young squad ready to battle again as they chase State Championship glory.

Again, they will look for Kennedy and Magoulias to lead the way, while hoping the likes of five eighth and captain Will Kennedy, young centre Ronaldo Mulitalo and winger Tyrone Phillips are good to go on Sunday after picking up injuries in the win over the Magpies.

The experienced Greg Eastwood, as well as talented youngsters Jackson Ferris, Luke Polselli and Josh Carr are waiting in the wings should some of those last week’s team be unable to go around this weekend.

The Newtown v Burleigh game is scheduled for a 1.35pm kick off at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, with the Jets team listed below.

I will play my xbox in between the two real games.

I have no interest in an exhibition game.

I am a supporter of the women playing but in no way should they be the main support to the NRL GF.
Newtown and Burleigh have worked their proverbials off all year, in their respective hard fought comps.
Not played just three f**king games, its an insult to all the people playing in the State Championship Cup. Disgraceful.

I don’t support a bunch of primarily bull dykes polluting rugby league at all.

Not till they correct the quintessential clusterphark they made in excluding a Sharks team.

I’ll do my game day cook while that is on

It should be Sharks V Broncos--- or Souths Maybe (werent they dudded too?)

As for the rest If rugby league is to survive as a top class professional sport than the administrators need to consider the competition for supporters ,participants ,sponsers and fans . They are competing with AFL, Yawnion Soccer, gridiron, tennis , golf ,Baseball, Basketball, Bowls, Badminton ,Darts ,Pool, Billiards ,Volleyball,Motocross, car racing ,Pushbike riding Quoits, and Mumblypeg, for peoples limited TIME and MONEY . As unfair as it may be to the State Cup Players I reckon its probably the right decision commercially ,unlike many other decisions from NRL. Just be thankfull we dont have a statue of an unknown lady player in an Embarrassing position ,outside the stadium like AFL have done .To be fair They should also have a statue of a obscure male player getting his dacks pulled down or something.

If they (NRLW) played in a full competition, and the same amount of games, I'd definitely be more in agreeance. As it stands, there are only four teams playing only three games, I find it disrespectful.
At this point I'll humbly disagree with you but totally respect your opinion.
