He did lay all over the ruck though. He was trying to slow down Qld’s quicker play the balls. Looked a clear penalty to me. Joey and Gus said what I was saying at halftime, NSW were poorly disciplined just like we were in Game one.

He wasn't laying in the ruck any longer than a majority of the tackles during the game...

BTW Klein was rubbing in game one as well the start stop bullshit ruined the entertainment.

And less we talk about Joey and Gus the better...

Is it any coincidence the 1 big game in the last 5-6 years Klein didnt ref was the 2023 GF.

And its considered one of the best refereed games in the last 20 years.

The only reason Klein didnt ref that game was he had a howler in the semi final and basically had to be hooked for the prelim and GF.

What happened to Adam Gee after that GF?

Did the Refs all get together and say no that's not how you ref a game we need to be noticed and sack him from any future rep games?

When NSW decided to play footy in the 2nd half and not just try to grub it up QLD literally had nothing. They never even came close to scoring. But NSW went in thinking they were going to smash QLD easily and their play style showed that.

The fact that Lomax is copping criticism from fans shows they only watch for big moments. There were various plays all throughout the game by the whole team that lost them the game. Lomax was the only NSW player putting pressure on the QLD back 3 which forced a few errors and penalties. That won't get spoken about because he missed some sideline conversions

I think the critisicm will spur Lomax on to have 2 big games over the next couple of weeks.

I reckon he will nail every kick on Sunday night.

Generally thats how it works.

It's been a rule for a while.. you used to be able to tackle the attacking player in the air when on the goal line but for some dumb reason they changed it...

Yeah I know, I’m just saying it’s a dumb rule.
Penalise the tackle if it’s dangerous. That wasn’t even close to dangerous.

I thought it was a pretty obvious penalty as I watched it. I’m the last person on earth who likes Klein but I’ll maintain NSW were poorly disciplined which you seem to disagree with. Fair enough. Luai wasn’t interested in playing football in the first half and it cost the Blues.

The thing with that is it becomes opinion on what constitutes a dangerous tackle rather than being a flat out rule.

It sucks but you have to keep it as is. Makes it much easier to identify and understand, even if you changed it the discourse would just change to if it was a dangerous tackle or not

Nope they were poor but somehow QLD were not? Give me a break...

I go to games now where I can pick when the ref is about to blow a penalty heck even my kids can call a penalty coming before it's blown.. I am just sick of the ineptitude from the officials in the game..

57k crowd there last night on a Wednesday night is that what you have would have expected and reflection for the appetite for RL in Perth.

Andrew Voss said on the radio this morning the atmosphere at Optus was basically like what you would expect in an origin.

Reckons the fans were right into it and was buzzing the whole night especially the last 20 mins.

How far back are you in the seats at Optus to the ground.

It is a oval shaped ground so your further back then Suncorp or Commbank.

I imagine when the Perth Bears come in they might play 1 marquee game there at Optus a year with 10 at the HBF Park & 1 in Sydney.

Qld got the shit end of the stick on 6 agains. What some of them were for, your guess is as good as mine. We got pumped in the first game on penalties but I thought we were poorly disciplined. If you remove Luai, that penalty count is an absolute non issue.

That may be the case and as I said game 1 was just as bad in officiating..

And trying to even it up by the 6 against isn't it.. NSW discipline was shit but QLD was not perfect and that's basically it.

I would have been happy with no penalties either side unless warranted but we know that's not how the officials work..

I thought Cleary was very poor, but was obviously not 100% fit. Unlucky his try was called back for obstruction.

We were very flat in attack for most of the game and didn't utilise Mitchell or S Crighton enough.

NSW scoring early and then got too cocky.

The penalty count was atrocious but NSW lost the plot as well.

Ill discipline was there

Hudson Young, Stefano, Max King ain't origin players.

Connor Watson was horrendous when he came on.

It also puts to bed Gus Gould theory that Cleary/Luai combo is superior at Origin.

3 wins from 7 at that level.

In a way NSW got what they deserved for there disgraceful handling of Moses last week.

Some of the calls last night were ridiculous, especially the Cleary No try but cant excuse some poor errors and silly penalties they gave away.

Hudson Young isnt a bench player, either start him or dont use him. Max King didnt play much, not sure why. Stefano is another wasted selection. Just because he's playing for Melbourne doesnt make him a good play.

Some of the other forwards didnt do much, Martin, Yeo, basically got bashed up.

The attack from Cleary and Luai was terrible and some of the passes last night in wet weather conditions were awful, especially the one to Haas.

You'd think these guys would understand the conditions but obviously not. And that kick out of the full, pathetic.

I sense it will be another close one in Sydney.

Stefano is an idiot basically for walking back into the line..

If he moves forward then it's a try no one was stopping Cleary that close.

Next set QLD score...

Yep. It was definitely an obstruction. Stefano showed no footy awareness. Ran through the line as a decoy and then actually moved back into it to cause the obstruction. So f**king dumb.

I’ve been to a few rugby league games in Perth and the crowd is always good. The Nines was huge. HBF Park is a bit dinky. It reminds me of WIN Stadium but at least it’s easy to get to.

I’ve only been to the AFL at Optus but it’s a great stadium. Even the cheap seats are good.
