No team has ever been redlining like we have for 5 bloody years but it's caught up with them

I think the continual loosing of players has finally hurt and us. Along with the lack of pre season because of the international game at the end of last year.

Once you begin to lose games, you lose confidence in your own ability to win.

I don't think the're's anything wrong with their motivation levels though. They are just having to re adjust to a new players within the team.

The best 'Panther' last night was Critta. He completely shut down an entire edge - QLD didn't want to go near him and when he did - he just shut it all down. He even defended 2 positions when To'o was off. How did we ever think Tago would come close to matching him considering they are on similar pay?

Marto had a battle with Munster but was otherwise pretty quiet.

Yeo was very good and very reliable, some excellent runs in that 1st half. He shelved his playmaking and looked a whole lot better for it. I think it was a deliberate tactic by Laurie - QLD would have been expecting 'ball playing Yeo' and trained for it and were confused when he didn't. Maybe a lesson in that for Ivan.

Nathan was not particularly good unfortunately. He was trying too hard with too many risky offloads. This is something he'd do early in his career but has shelved it since being coached by his dad. I remember thinking that maybe this was Lauries coaching trying to bring it out of him again? Obviously had a shocker with the boot but it appears everyone was shanking them last night.

Edwards did decently but still a little frail around the high ball. Made a few big defensive plays.

To'o tried hard but wasn't as effective as he usually is. That mismatch against Coates exposed his weakness and Brian was lucky that QLD didn't get better field position and more attacking kicks.

All in all a decent, but not great outing by the current Panthers in the Panthers & Friends game vs QLD.

Nathan had a mixed night but he was still the best half on the field.

Queensland have nothing this will be 3-0

In fairness to the Blues attack, the weather was atrocious last week and not conducive to building combinations or set plays.

The kicking by both teams was off. Quite bizarre really.

big call here i know - but if we can get through Origin period and be 2-3 games off the 8 - we make the finals

much better performance from the boys - cant help but feel they've all been worrying abit about making NSW - they all played well and will be picked game 2. i expect them all to play against Parra and have a good performance

the focus post origin will have us dialed in to go on a run - as long as we dont cop injuries - i think the boys will lift the team and the club

Martin quiet?!!! Wft f**k were you watching? He's never played a regular season game like that for Penrith. He obliterated both merkinster and Ponga, took them out of the game by himself.

f**k he is frustrating
I missed part of the game tbf. He had some good moments in d, but the whole team defended very well and overall dominated QLD physically. The most memorable thing he did with the ball was get piledriven by Ponga.

I do agree hes a frustrating player though.

A few of us this year have said the halves need to take more control and play through Yeo less as an every now and then variation.

never seen a guy who can just position himself so well that he shut down almost anything, even an overlap with the hammer he just uses his size, mobility and position so f**king well. he is almost worth an extra defender imo.

I do think yeos first half was awesome though. He and Haas just tore grant to shreds. The whole pack did well at that though, they were sacrificing metres just to get at Harry Grant and make him tackle.

Crichton isn't just the best centre in the game. He is close to the best player in the competition right now.

His defensive work is extremely impressive. He makes his decisions so quickly even when someone gets on his outside he is fantastic in getting on his bike in cover. His nickname should be the bank.

Watching Critta play now is harder than seeing my most bitter ex. Id swap anyone besides Cleary and yeo to bring him back for next season, possibly two of anyone outside cleary and yeo.
Trade 5 for him. Schneider, Eisenhuth, Leota and your pick of any 2 players that aren’t Bizza, Cleary or yeo,

and tbh depending on how bad this year gets, if we have to full rebuild id rather have Critta than Yeo for next season. I wouldnt do it Yeo deserves to finish here but Critta has been so impactful on the culture at the dogs, its hard not to think we are missing that massively right now along with what he actually does on the field.

Always think it is funny that the P(M)OTM was in doubt until just before Kick off.
Realistically NSW beat QLD in QLD 4 tries to 1 with a side that contained 13/14 players who were not in form or just back from injury. Still wondering why they took Yeo off for 10 at crucial point.

Crichton's improvement over the last 2.5 seasons particularly is insane. He was always defensively solid and had a big play in him but not sure I saw him beat a player 1 v 1 when he was with us, now he does it 3 times a game. His defense is so strong because of the tackles he doesn't attempt, as much as the ones he does. Much like Edwards in the backfield, holds up the play for other players where most would feel the pressure to make a decision.

Thought Cleary and Edwards were both solid. Some of the scores Cleary has been given are ridiculous, cops it from the tall poppy brigade.

Yeo is Yeo.

I thought Cleary was really good. Goal kicking aside, his kicking game was strong (particularly in the first half, second half became a bit less precise).

Defence was very strong and he was very connected to Martin and Critta (for me showed how much easier it is to defend on an edge when the middles are winning/the ref is allowing a lot of leeway in the ruck).

I really liked his attack. In a game dominated by not much space outside of the work of Haas (and to a lesser extent Yeo, Chrichton (A) and Barnett), the soace NSW did find was on the inside and outside of Cleary. He played so direct; he played like an old Isiah Katoa. And when the game was there to be won in the 15 minutes before the break he was clinical.
