Gotta say, having been full-on in the weeks/months leading into Origin, i'm over it and even the lameness of the NRL comp in this period too. It affects my interest in the whole sport, even with the rabbits flying high at the top. this happens every year whether Origin is a decider or not.
just goes on for far too long to give a shit about in the end. other events I'm interested in have grabbed my interest. no doubt i'll be excited when the day comes, but just over all the BS lead-up for each game.
just put the NRL into a mid-season hiatus (and reduce the number of rounds too) and play Origin on a sunday night over 3 consecutive weekends. the greatest rugby league club competition is seriously reduced to pathetic status while this goes on.
