State of Origin

Yep we all understand it was the injury that earned the big weeks. Sort of like if I drink drive and I don't hurt anyone, I only get a minor penalty as opposed to a big skate if I collect someone.

But the NRL came out and expressly said they were going to clamp down on tip tackles. Around a month later, they've slapped Reynolds with a wet bus ticket because of Origin.

They may as well come out and say there are different rules for Origin. We all think it.

Can't fault Lillyman.
But how classic, no penalty for swinging arm on Slaters head by Gallen, but Thursdan let's out a slap for a penalty. What happened to third man in by Reynolds?

Wasn't the best game, lot of niggle, slow plays, lots of errors, bugger all line breaks.
But I'm sure it will be "The greatest origin game ever!" But guess it pays the media monkeys wages.
I can see Hassler, Bellamy calling for game 3 to be called off!

QLD losing tonight IMO means Melbourne's 3 will probably retire from rep footy after this season.

I trust we've heard the last of the "Hoffman's not worth the $$, and not an elite backrower" talk??

Really feel for Tate.. FMD

I've never seen Origin so spiteful, but it was still enjoyable.

Low scoring games aren't necessarily dull. At no point did I feel like not watching.

They say Qld should have won because they had most of the possession, but they didn't score points with it. Botched two tries they should have scored (Thaiday and McQueen) and those tries could have wrapped up the game.

Why have a third if it's a dead rubber?

Dave Taylor? Dunno about him. His crap pass out wide that got knocked on was the turning point, it was all Blues from then on.

So do I. Champion bloke who deserves to end his career on his own terms. He limped off so hopefully it's not career-ending.

As for Blair's DT comment, totally agree. One of the most bone-headed plays in Origin history, just short of a Hodges-esque brain melt. As the commentators said, his role would have been solely to put his head down and run. A 4-0 lead, an absolute arm wrestle where QLD just had to get to their kicks strongly, and this muppet decides to go the hail mary? He won't get picked again under Mal.

It was entertaining enough last night but with that sort of passion and drama, every Origin will be. It was just a shit game of league.

Oh well it'll make next year at the G extra spicey!

At a guess, something to do with $millions to the NRL coffers, and $30g or whatever to each player!

I thought the game was terrible. Only the closeness and intensity kept me interested, but barely.

Poor cowboys, Tate an ACL (unconfirmed), and Scott a broken cheekbone.

I reckon Tate is done if it is an ACL...poor bloke, but he has had a good innings.

Gosh the NRL really does suck during the origin period - so many crap games, too many byes!

Yeah Origin time really blows for NRL fans who don't care about Origin like myself. I wish Origin was played outside of the regular season, like end of year test matches.

Does Jayson Bukuya now come into calculations for QLD?

They need to future proof some of their squad, and with the dead rubber coming up it should be an ideal time to try out two/three younger fellas. Will Chambers coming in for Tate seems the obvious first one, and with McQueen following a bad game 1 with a very average game 2 (circumstances were difficult for him obviously though), Teo almost certainly headed overseas at the end of the year, Taylor surely to be dropped and Papalii (if he's even fit enough for a recall) in awful form.... Bukuya? They could do a lot worse.
