Smith was recovering from injury at the start of the year, but since round 10 he's started every game.

As for Horo, he was as bad as Lasalo (worse even) through the first half of the year. It's only in the last month or two that Lasalo's form has gone downhill.

Also, Kearney may see Horo as better suited coming off the bench. Starting doesn't necessarily mean the player is ahead of the benchies in the pecking order, though Kearney does seem to start his best players rather than hold them in reserve.

If everyone was available I still reckon our edges would be:

12. Smith
13. Maitua
15. Horo

Bearing in mind Smith and Horo have played some of their games at centre, here are their attacking stats (LBAs are in the other thread):

G/TB/LB/T/Name
22/39/7/4 Horo
22/22/2/2 Lasalo
07/18/2/3 Maitua
22/22/6/5 Smith

These are quick and nasty stats I got off Fox Sports. Their defensive stats would say a lot as well, but I couldn't be arsed going through the stats sites compiling them, plus they would need to be broken down by position.

What we can see here is that Horo and Maitua are a lot better at breaking tackles than the other two, though Ben Smith can still make a break and score a try.

Also I don't rate Horo as a defender. I think he's worse than Lasalo.

If we're going this crap next year they should give him the arse. If we even miss the finals there will be a lot of pressure on him.

They will make a world of difference. As you can see we're most lacking at centre and the halves.

Don't believe the hype. He's a great fullback in both attack and defence - he's only the second player ever to win the Dally M Medal at fullback, and this was back when he wasn't much of a ball-player.

Absolutely agree with all this. Hayne`s more a fullback than anything else. If he has a 'second position', I reckon he`d be a bloody good centre.

Lasalo is straight garbage..

People can sugar coat things all they want. Ive never seen him drive in a tackle in either attack or defence. If he ran at luke burt he'd go straight to ground, says it all.

Woodyk, thanks for your observations now nick off, I wish our roster had some centres and wingers ,,,,by the way the Knights have those positions covered, just hope we sign some more of your players ( would make a change)

Yeah for sure. Even wing would suit him better than 6. At least he'd run the ball more.

One day when he's slower and smarter he'll play in the halves but at the moment it's a terrible fit for him.

Really? What other team has had 4* players in the top 25 retire mid season? and 2 players out for the majority of the season?

*I can't recall if Billy Rogers was in the top 25

We have the crapest roster in the league. That is why we are coming last. Titans has a better side on paper.

*Retire* or told to go elsewhere as they were unwanted. For the record Biily Rogers. However Grothe and Tahu would have been top 25 if they hadn't quite or been released in the pre season.

He hasn't been defending at centre (he's been defending at left half) though I agree he shouldn't be defending anywhere in the outside 3.
