channel nine has been pathetic going on a decade now , he is basically the only one I rate (the odd occasion I have watched I haven’t minded slater ).

It may be his decision but then again it may not. He insisted it was his decision to quit the Thursday night Footy Show. But I think that was just a cover for the fact Nine axed him and saving Nine from a PR backlash. Apparently the reason he wants to quit is to make way for younger commentators.

I think Sterling is awesome. But I must admit the Sunday Footy Show is becoming stale. I was thinking that today, and there just isn't enough quality analysis without Andrew Johns to back up Sterling there.
And 100% Footy is now everything the Sunday Footy show isn't.

This article doesn't have paywall which will give you more of the lo-down. Apparently Wally Lewis won't be getting his contract renewed. I'm not surprised with (Thurston, Slater, Smith, Gallan etc) now on board there are so many commentators that someone has to go.

I know Sterling was contracted until end of 2022 season and he has said on radio earlier in the year that would be a good time to retire from ch9. Hope he continues on triple m on Saturday's .

Sterlo has always struck me as a guy who commentates because he loves the game not because he wants the limelight like most of the jokers.

He's got enough moulah, just relax, play a bit of golf, hang out with the missus and kids and live the good life. That's what I would do anyway.

Sterlo has always struck me as a guy who commentates because he loves the game not because he wants the limelight like most of the jokers.

He's got enough moulah, just relax, play a bit of golf, hang out with the missus and kids and live the good life. That's what I would do anyway.

I used to enjoy his work, but he hasn’t been great for a few years. His analysis has fallen behind the current game.

Having said that, he’s still the best commentator on 9. Which is a sad indictment of their commentary team.
