NRL should have grown a pair and just said "You weren't good enough" It's not a question of age, it's a question of competence.

Having said that, I think the bigger problem is the video referees. They have all the time in the world, can replay it as many times as they like, have the best view and multiple angles available and they STILL f*ck it up every game.

Exactly! How Hampstead still has a job I will never know - that merkin f**ked up at least 5 times this year, and still appeared in the finals.

Ridiculous, especially when the so-called top refs in Archer, Hayne, Cecchin, Cummins, Maxwell etc make just as many mistakes as Lyons did. Not to mention the worst ones last season were the video refs who have a much easier job than on field refs yet f**k up even more.

simple... piss off the video ref and have the head on-field ref go to the sideline and watch the replay (like the NFL reviews)... that way there is one man responsible and every interpretation of the rules will be his...

I think the big point here is not that they were sacked, its when they were sacked they should have known their fate before the end of the season not now.

These 2 were definetley not the worst refs out there in first grade, Suttor is IMO one of the refs that should have been punted, his attitude to towards the players is downright f**king disgraceful at times.

Personally I never had problems with Lyons or De Las Heras so much as I did with Robinson, Cecchin and Suttor.

Today I was wondering what ever happened to Lyons and after a quick google search found the articles and then this thread.

Does anyone know if he ended up taking the NRL to court? Or did they settle out of court or something?

Is he reffing any NSW Cup matches or anything nowadays?
