Contrary Conduct - Knee Lift Grade 1
112 points for early plea
Charged with a knee lift when Clarke said had he lifted his knee he would have been marched. The judiciary are an absolute joke.

A joke indeed.

Hopefully he'll fight it. Perhaps also PJ could help Stevo out like he did for Dunley.

It's not surprising. How is it 112 points though? CC charge is 125 points according to their own list of charges.

125 less 25% should be only 87.5 points.

Must have carry overs I don't remember.

He apparently has a fifty percent loading from non-similar incidents in the past 2 years.

Moi Moi is looking at 5 weeks on an early plea.

Nope, it's a loading for a prior non similar offence. What was Stevo done for in the last 2 years?

Thats a joke. PJ Marsh placed his head in the wrong position. Not at any stage did Stevo lift his knee towards the defended. Players have to lift their knees to run and (break) the line. otherwise whats the point of taking the ball up. We will fight this one.

PJ didn't help Dunley and seeing he was knocked out cold I doubt he'd even remember the incident and would be of little help.

That's right, Brian Smith wrote Dunley a letter.

I expect PJ to do the same for Stevo though as they are both God Botherers who attend the same church I believe.

He was suspended due to the loading for non-similar offences. With the early plea as someone mentioned above he should have only had 87 points. It was a fair cop for something that could have been worse. Yes, PJ contributed to it however you can't lead with your knee.

but it was lifting, not leading apparently

an appeal may be an option seeing as though the ref and video ref said it was leading and not lifting.

could argue the point

they should be reviewing past incidents of kneeing and try and see if they can save him

Yes. I was writing as you were posting. I still want to know where they get 150 points base penalty from.

Here's a screen shot of the Charges

Bird only player to face judiciaryWritten by: Troy Dodds6/4/04 Views: 86

Sharks five-eighth Greg Bird will be the only player to face the National Rugby League judiciary tomorrow night after all other players charged following round four of the competition submitted early guilty pleas.

In what is expected to be a marathon hearing, the judiciary will hear Bird’s defence to a striking incident that saw him sent from the field during the Sharks’ match with South Sydney last weekend.

The case was forwarded straight to the judiciary due to its seriousness.

Today, Bird’s team-mate Jason Stevens accepted a one match suspension on a tripping charge, while Penrith’s Luke Lewis escaped suspension thanks to his good record. Lewis submitted an early guilty plea to a dangerous throw charge.

Roosters pair Stuart Webb and Adrian Morley will miss three and one matches respectively after submitting early guilty pleas on high tackle charges today.

Bird’s case will be heard tomorrow night.

I'm unsure of how they work the points however the loading is the extra 25 points on top of the 125.

the charge is contrary conduct - knee lifting

i thought it was weird when i saw it because i swear that the dunley spitting incident was just labelled as "contrary conduct"

maybe they've introduced a new charge for "contrary conduct - knee lifting" and it's base points are more than contrary conduct?

Does anyone get the impression the Dunley aquittal on appeal is being kept very much under wraps? I haven't seen anything that explains why this matter was suddenly overturned. I mean the guy was facing four weeks imposed by three respected ex players guided by a QC.

I think the NRL needs to come out and tell anyone interested what vital new evidence was presented.

Otherwise I will continue to remain skeptical of the whole system.
