just shitty concrete steps mate...... people shouldnt have to pre book or get to the ground an hour early....... im just curious but is there any sort of entertainment before first grade..... when i went down for a game last year there was nothing at all very disappointing. :(

yes they should...not only for storm games in melbourne but every game...if you want a good seat and dont wanna have to f**k around with tickets etc then get there early, will make it much easier on yourself.

yes i see your point but you should be able to turn up to any game (other than origin, tests etc) and be able to buy a ticket and get in straight away..... everytime i have been to a game i have got my ticket at the door.

having said this its not like melbourne has to worry about overcrowding anyway so i dont see why people cannot turn up 10 min before the game and get a seat.

Take your complain to Ticketek and MOPT. They're the ones who handle ticketing arrangements and opening ticket booths. The club has no control over it.

Do you rock up 10 minutes before a popular movie starts (say for the sake of argument LOTR or Star Wars) on opening day and expect to get decent seats?

In years past, before big games such as first home game, games vs Brisbane or Warriors, we used to have cover bands and other acts performing before the game. This year, none so far. We still have curtain raiser games though, usually U/19s or something

The admins are still trying to get their bearings and apparently a club member just received a 2003 bumper sticker in the mail. Plenty of behind the scenes mucking around.

i was at the western stand directly opposite and the Nikau stand definitely looked empty on both ends. but the middle area between the 30 meter lines were packed though.

that's pretty standard for the Nikau stand... looks full when you're on that side of the ground, but when you see the replay, the ends of the stand are empty

lets just all agree that there has to be some improvement within the storm ranks.

i just want to get the crowds we used to what do u think it is the novality has worn off, interest has fallen away or not enough media coverage to build the profile of the club?

i think media coverage would be a start

some sort of attractive membership package

perhaps also some more cross-promotions

eg like the one with xfactor

The Storm need a highly visible, attractive, yet cost effective promotion campaign. The club has no money to buy prime time ads on TV. Plenty of fans are willing to come up with 30 or 60 second highlights packages that are TV commercial quality though.

We need to win a lot more games to attract the fans. I wonder what happened to the 3 - 5 thousand that used to show up in the early years. We're down by that many these days.

I think we have to look no further than lost members to see how many we have turned over in our brief history. Because the club don't reassign member numbers, each new member gets a new number. My mate joined this year, and is member number 33 thousand and something. Considering we have 5 or 6 thousand members, it is a worry how many members have disappeared.

Either last year was worse than posted or this year is an undercount - Newcastle always like to undercount, the Rorters overcount and use cardboard cutouts, so who knows.

Any reasons for the Storm's crowd dropping below 10,000 against the Eels on the weekend?

We were playing the Eels… not exactly a crowd pulling game like the Broncos or Warriors…

The reason its up to about 33 thousand is that they don’t cancel existing numbers and I would bet that quite often people who were members in 2002 but not 2003 and then in 2004 they renewed again, they would be classified as new members. Their old details would still be in the database and new details would be re-entered, not to mention all the 3 & 6 game members who would be entered as new members each time. The system they use is a little stuffed but that would also have something to do with existing members not wanting to lose their precious member number 2016 or whatever…

I know that in the Ribot & Johns days they used to up the crowd numbers each week (by quite a lot) which made things confusing when they stopped doing it however I’m pretty sure last year and now this year they announce the “actual” crowd figure.

No, one of my other mates who was a member from the start, but wasn't for a couple of years, I have now got to re-join, and he was given his number from when he first joined. So if people re-join, they do get their original number back.

Well, why not bring back the fireworks and maybe some bands to play before the game, surely that can help, and to say we dont have enough money for ad's and that kinda thing is kinda wrong, we seem to come up with $200,000 when we breach the salary cap each year :|

Also the 3 or 6 game membership pack should come back, people dont wanna buy a whole season worth when they can maybe only go to 3 - 4 games a year, so instead they dont buy anything and dont go to anygames.

I guess it's the same thing over and over, and its all been said before.

That was budgeted by Stanton because he was aware of the breach. You could argue that if the club has no money, how could they pay all their employees and players. Obviously they have money but only enough to cover certain priorities.
