Not only does the Storm have a good coaching staff but by the looks of it the recruitment staff has a good eye for natural ability. They have picked up some brilliant kids in the pas t 3\4 years (Slater, Inglis, and now Falou)
A few months back I remember hearing the Roosters poached the Storm's main recruitment officer.

I was wondering if this was the guys that has the keen eye for natural athletisism?

Sullivan has signed on with the Roosters , he's supposed to be the guru , we'll see if he has the same success though , I think Dean Lance is joining him as well , not sure what role though

He's replacing Kelly Egan as Football Manager at the Cowboys.

The trick with him is he recruits player types, then moulds them into the player they want. Instead of saying "okay, we need a good centre" and searching the market for an established centre, he often goes along the lines of "we need a rangy wide-running backrower" > Hoffman. "We need a mongrel forward with aggression" > J Smith.

Guys like Ben Cross, Jeremy Smith, James Aubusson, Anthony Quinn, Garrett Crossman, Ryan Hoffman, Clint Newton, Jeff Lima have been some of the best bargain buys by any club.

I hope O'Sullivan brings this sort of attitude to the Roosters. Bargain buys rather than marquee signings.

Roosters took some steps in the right direction this season, re-signing several youth prospects like Pearce, M Aubusson, Kenny-Dowall, Sa, Nuuausala, Soliola, D Williams, to go with long term prospects Myles (will come food) along with soon to be re-signed stars Anasta, Paea, Perrett, whilst making a very good signing for the future in J Aubusson. O'Sullivan will next year clear out any of the older players (Fitzy & Nutley will retire IMO) or underachievers (Shackleton, Harrison, Shillington), & scour the ranks for young talent in positions where our depth lacks. Good move.

I really don't think the success of Melbourne is in the recruiting as much as the training.

Take Kirk Reynoldson for instance.

He was a nuffie before going to Melbourne - trained his guts out down there and was talked about as a SOO player - went to Newcastle and apparently does more training than anyone else in the side, but has gone straight back to being a nuffie.

The Melbourne boys have very few distractions. They can get on with training hard without fans and the media distracting them.

The Storm also have Marquee signings as well, but with those they are very selective and get the right blokes, like Mick Crocker.

Precisely. They found someone on the outer with another club that is too good to pass up. Crocker was on the outer with Harrison on the way in.

Roosters should be chasing a young kid prop on the outer with their club, like Brendan Hlad. Have a bunch of kids coming through who will pressure Shillo & Shack to shape up or ship out.
