As opposed to Telstra Stadium - built to service public transport AND plenty of parking :D

IF they can get it - then perhaps try it out. Its a once-off or twice-off event, and there are a couple of positives for the Storm in doing so, including the novelty of MNF, no AFL to compete with, great facilities and obviously large walk-in crowd base knocking off work in the CBD.

I reckon go for it - if OP is unavailable then they'll have no choice - but even if they do, give it a go Waldron. If they get 25k it will be one of the biggest crowds of the round - even if the Dome is half full. Anything above 20k and the atmosphere is fine.

However, no one wants to see 12k at TD...its like Souths playing a Telstra Stadium

I would think that the crowd at a one-off game at the Dome would far exceed regular crowds at OP just because of the novelty factor alone.

I have not been to either, but know the OP aint exactly state of the art, where the Dome is. And with the ruinning track, aren't the stands a fair bit away from the field anyway (open q to storm fans).

Do agree that the slipperiness as experienced in Origin could be a deterant - O3 last year was one of the worst spectacles in origin footy, with only the closeness of the result making it interesting.

Finally, as an opposition fan I would definitely be interested in flying down for a Dragons game at the Dome as suggested. I wouldn't & haven't for OP.

The Eastern (Nikau) stand isn't too bad, it's just the running track. The western (Lazarus) stand has the running track + more (long jump pits, room for high jump mats ect) and is further away. But it's not too bad at all.

The novelty may draw in a bigger crowd, but may be a deterrent to those who know what Storm games at the Dome are like.
As i said, if they moved the seats in, they'd have my support, without that, you can't see a thing.

The statement about OP being unavailable puts a different slant on things. If it were being done just to see whether they could draw a larger crowd, I would say leave it at OP and be happy with 18K, where it will look full enough etc.

But without OP being available, I tend to think this is the next best thing for the match.

Cool, thanks Dani.

Now the $64 dollar question - will you go to the bulldogs game if its at Telstra Dome?

If no, is it purely because of the dome itself?

I would rather go to Aussie and walk the ten minutes up hill, than Telstra, any day of the week.

Convenience?
I know when I had footy passes me and my mates used to go to every game at Aussie back when then Rabbits and Dragons used it because it was close to all of us.
Plus more pubs around Aussie

Put it on at the Dome, put a little bit of advertising out there, and see how you go.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Good move IMO bt I'd be wary of the fact that the crowd may not be as good as we'd expect. And yeah, the seats would need to get moved in!

The Broncos GF rematch round 2 would be ideal to have here at the dome in round 25....

Actually I live in the south-west, so takes slightly longer for me to get to Aussie than Telstra.
But yes, the six pubs on the way, the ability to pick up food, and the option of kicking on afterwards makes Aussie the preferred option.

I've missed 1 home game in 9 years, i'd still go to a game if i was on my death bed.

But not all regulars will feel the same.
OP has a great atmosphere, it does draws newcomers into the game. Unless we got 25,000+ at the Dome, it will be dead, empty and quiet, not to mention being miles from the action. Not great to try and get people coming back.

Not happy !!!...I hate the dome; plastic seats and plastic atmosphere.

The graveyard is our territory whereas playing at this stupid place will nullify our advantage.

This decision is garbage !!!...:x

i cant beleive some of the Telstra Stadium bashing going on here. Granted, the actual stadium needs some work... but the location, parking and public transport access is unsurpassed.

The whole olympic park complex is in the middle of sydney, and for peop0le from Western Sydney it is a lot easier to get there than it is to go to Aussie Stadium. The yuppies will have to make a sacrifice, yes as they dont have the footy in they city... but so what? the olympic park complex links to hornsby thruogh the 7 (Cumberland Highway/Silverwater Rd), links to the west through Parramatta/Victoria Rds... so it services more than just the east coast of Sydney, see?

The parking is awesome, it does set you back but there is just so much parking on the complex - i went to Acer Arena last night, and despite the crowds it worked out so well.

Public Transport to and from the stadium is awesome if there is an event on with shuttle trains and buses. Even if there isnt an event, regular trains and buses run from the stadium to all areas of sydney.

Middle of nowhere? It's within about 15-20k of the centre of the city.

Middle of nowhere?

Ever heard of Parramatta Stadium, CUA Stadium, Campbelltown?
