Shame it's in the middle of NOWHERE.

Nope - that would be Brookvale and Shark Park.

I lived in Newington two seasons ago - absolute bliss being able to walk to games. Even now living in the eastern suburbs getting to Telstra is quicker and easier than all but SFS.

And it's got a maccas plus thos food stalls that regularly set up! Lamb rolls with chilli! Yum!

Now that they have moved it to Telstra Dome I'll look at buying tix and going for the weekend.

After two years of OP I was going to gove this year a miss, now novelty factor (and a better paying job) might see me go...

Telstra Dome is more likely to attract AFL fans to watch the game...the dome is a lot easier to get to compared to OP, just get a tram from the middle of the CBD or get a train and it is one stop after Flinders St. Station

Waldron is on radio at the moment and said that the game will only be moved to the dome if olympic park is unavailable....which he said at this stage it should be available

also Waldron said he is going to have a meeting with ch9 about storm coverage in melbourne and that it is disappointing that the ANZAC Test is not on FTA in Melbourne at all

You're dead right. There won't be any last minute win by us this time around. We'll have the game well and truly wrapped up at the half this time :)

I can understand people being negative to this idea as crowds have shrunk when storm played at the dome in the past. But its a once of test to see the crowd level of playing a game at the dome. Melbourne Victory did it as a test and found that it was so successful they moved there for the rest of the year.

Im not suggesting a permanent move but at least test the demand for it.

Having it on a mon is a risk. It could fail big time (even if it gets 11,000 at the dome it wont be considered a success) or it could do well and get close to 18,000.

Id have preferred that they did it on a fri night when there wasnt a AFL match being played in Melb. That would have definetly got an accurate figure on the support for storm.

Totally agree with Collingwood Storm
if the storm wants to move a game or 2 to the dome then there should have been a season opener against the Broncos on the friday night 2 weeks before the AFL season started
That would be a big match and would easily get upwards of 20,000

The big advantage that the Storm possibly see with taking their first MNF game to the Telstra Dome is that they will have the Bundaberg promotions team to help them get bums on seats.

Similar to what they did for the Raiders games, the Bundaberg team more or less go around the city the whole day raising interest in the game, and selling cheap tickets there and then to interested people.

Throw in a bit of marketing by the Storm, the novelty factor of MNF, I see no reason by 20K couldn't be achieved

Really!? Didnt know that. Ahhh some promotion, feels good to have some in the NRL. Thank god we have some companies that do the promotion for the NRL. Bring on the dome! Im interested in how it goes, cause eventually the storm need to start working towards larger crowds.
