Iheard Rumors that Canberra Raiders were close to signing Bradford Bulls Prop Stuart Fielden. Does anyone know if there is any truth to these rumors.

Fielden's still contracted to Bradford for another season or two. After that, there's a possibility we may sign him - he used to play under Matt Elliott, and is also good mates with Jenno, but I'd expect him to be very hotly sought after.

He would go to a team that really needs him and would have room under the cap, like the Dogs or Roosters .

From the Sun Herald today:

Observant spectators at the Super League grand final spotted Bradford and Great Britain prop Stuart Fielden performing what seemed like a farewell to the crowd.

Naturally, this renewed speculation that he was headed to Canberra.

Fielden and the Raiders insist there is nothing doing, even if he does repeatedly state his desire to play in the NRL.

Maybe someone here could teach how to play the ball facing the tryline as opposed to the sideline

I would love to see him at the Raiders but I think realistically he wont be here before 2006. We would have most likely offloaded Woolford and Smith and Adamson would no longer be on our wage list.

damn straight. He would solve alot of problems, but remember that we had to offer Withers only $45,000 for next season becuase we didn't have any room under the cap, so there would be absolutely no room for him unless he wanted to play for free.

lol... if that was the case, and withers found out, i dont think he would be happy. And it would be a complete waste of time and money if it didnt work.

Quite simply, Ultra is right... we will not get him til his contract is finished, but if we do, that will be a fantastic signature to get.

R 69... we are talking about the RAIDERS management here... odds are nil.

We would if Management sacked Bulgarelli and Tyran Smith. We have more centres and 2nd rowers than we need and we only really have 2 props in Weyman and O'hara with Cross and Thompson as backups. Adding Fieldon in here would be a big boost.
Obvious solution to me because unless there is a huge, and i mean HUGE, injury list, there is NO WAY in the world that Bulgarelli or Smith should be selected before any other player!

Sorry not trying to turn this into another one of those Bulgarelli and Smith arguments.

Agree. Bulgarelli, Robertson, T.Smith, Martin, Porter are all dead weight IMO. We also have Purtell and Fredericks who are both outside backs.

Frawley, Mogg, Graham, Smith, Chalk, Robertosn, PNG Steve, Howell, Bulgarelli seems a bit too much for me.

It's good to have depth but I think that's excessive.
