Stuart Fieldon? No thanks.

Not after the gutless display he put in at the Tri Nations. The guy was completly owned by the Aussie forwards, and showed no inclanation to get back into the game. Not once did he try and put a hit on anyone after he got belted. In fact, he went missing for long periods at a time.
IMO, Peacock was outstanding, the two Gareths proved to me that they could handle NRL, and the little hooker who came on for Newton (forget his name) was a little dyanamo.
Fieldon? Nah.

The problem with GB is they pick on reputation, and they are always the first picked. Terry Newton and Fielden were the worst players in all games.

The little dood that came on for Newton was Roby. Lee Gilmour was impressive during the series, he could definately make it in the NRL. Same could be said for Sean Long, but at 31 there is no point in him trying.

Roby, yeah. He was dynamite when he came on and lifted the Poms to another level.
I agree about Gilmour. Hell, they all could handle NRL, and I think it would benefit them to spend a few seasons in that type of environment.

The Poms have a bit of work to do with development.

I am SO glad we didn't sign Fieldon for the money he is asking.

Fielden would have been a good buy back when we were talking about signing him, however he's now tied up at Wigan, and will be long in the tooth before he is finished there, putting paid to his thoughts of a stint in the NRL.

Not sure how much it had to do with his lacklustre performances, but his mother died a few weeks back, many other players would not have made the trip downunder, instead staying with their family.

with elliot gone our only real link to him has gone now too anyway. plus, we already has potentionally one of the best forward packs in the nrl, we don't need him.

I've seen him play a lot better than this and I have to think that his mother's death is weighing heavily on his shoulders, which is entirely understandable.

Agreen with HRUNDI99. Fielden is capable of a lot more. I believe he was also carrying injury.

I think the Pom forward were excellent - Peacock and the entire back row. I think the Ellis and Hock are as good, if not better than any Australian backrower going around at the moment with the possible exception of Hindmarsh.

I'll give Fielden credit for even coming on this tour considering the death of his mother - but he was a passenger and certainly didn't help his team-mates out at all.

I think Fielden would have to change his game a bit if he came to the NRL. In England he is an 80 minute player. Probably not any need for an 80 min prop in the NRL because you want them to give everything they have for 20 mins and then they can have a rest.

However, there is no doubt the bloke can play. But he is tied up to Wigan for some time, on big money, Elliott and Jenno have left so we don't have the Bradford connection, etc.

By the time he is available again, hopefully Weyman, Tilse, Thompson and Miller will be some of the top props in the league.

We are missing a bit of experience with the forwards at this stage but hopefully Turner and Logan can provide something. Also has anyone heard whether Andrew Lomu will be back in 07????

I don't think that Matty Adamson will ever get the credit he deserves at the Raiders. I know he didn't play a lot of games (12??? - and was injured in the first two minutes of two of them) but I think his work with the young forwards was really invaluable.

I think Lomu will struggle to make it in the 17. I would think Thommo/Miller/Tilse/Weyman/Logan would be higher in the food chain. Lomu reaaly lacked impact last year.
