Probably should see the whole list first but I get a feeling that some of NSW's best prospects will not be named...

Who do you want to see watatank?

Sounds like Sticky is covering all the bases.

I hope so.

These players could well be named in the squad but I find it rather odd that they weren't mentioned considering their teammates were. Anyway I'd want these players in the squad.

Luke Douglas, Jamal Idris, Tim Grant, Jarrod Mullen, Joel Thompson, Shaun Fensom, Cory Paterson, Nathan Gardner, Dan Hunt, Trent Merrin, Ryan James. They should be looking at Trent Hodkinson (backup for Pearce) and Tony Williams (well, if Hasler puts him in the backrow where he belongs).

Cameron King should be part of the NYC group IMO.

They should also be checking if Joseph Leilua and Kyle Stanley are available for NSW.

Top 50 NSW Adam, you rate Mitch above?

Above Tupou? Not sure. Aubusson has obviously never been tested in rep football. Even at the Roosters though Tupou, while in top club form, just didn't seem to offer anything on the big stage. Bit like Anasta I guess.

Aubusson shows a lot of promise, excellent hole runner, good defender. He'll have a hard time cracking Origin with so many other good established players like TLL, Bird, Gallen, Lewis, but he'll get there eventually I think.

Good list tanky, I'm sure there's other names too like Tim Grant who you'd like to see.

Personally one guy I wouldn't be afraid to include is Kane Linnett, for a rookie last season I was so impressed with him and I felt his inclusion played an important part in the Roosters race to the finals.

Adam - Yeah it's always hard to see how these fringe running forwards end up, they either turn out like Menzies or Carlaw and there's very little in-between. I see a lot of potential in Aubs though - I think he has a good head on his shoulders.

Just on Anasta's rep. career, I was of the same opinion but it's slightly been altered to Anasta wasn't a consistent threat at rep. level - he had his moments which he showed in 2005 and in the first half of 2007 (both games 1 and 2). The issue to me always stemmed from my observation that he was a better support half than dominant one and he would be paired with Finch, Mullen (young), Kimmorley and Pearece (young), if he keeps his 2010 form up as a fan I wouldn't be against him on the bench as a backrow option with of course Carney and Pearce in the halves.

That's not as bad as Fulton being confirmed as chief advisor (in the same article). What a disgrace.

Not sure about Linnett. As a Dragons fan I wasn't too disappointed he left. I always thought he was going to take a while to get to first grade (if he ever made it) and if so he wouldn't ever be more than a solid centre at club level. Mind you, he developed a lot quicker than I expected so maybe Origin isn't so farfetched.

btw I forgot Wade Graham and/or Beau Henry...

Aye, Linnett is bit of a raw talent but at the rate he's travelling, I'd certainly look to include him in a squad like this as encouragement.

Isn't Beau a Queenslander?

NSW fans be very afraid:

Yes, Kurt Gidley has already been picked for NSW - before the season has even started. How does this keep happening?

This pisses me of as a even as a QLD supporter, they should be making the hard decisions and dropping dead weight like Gidley.

Interesting to see what TLL's guaranteed selection means...if he will keep his spot on the bench or will he be promoted to the starting lineup.

Don't get what Gidley's selection means. It will most likely mean he will be interchange at full strength but does that mean he will move to the starting lineup if Carney/Pearce or whoever is fullback is unavailable or will someone else be brought in?

Exciting time for Blues fans, this could really become one of the best Origin series since 2007, maybe even 2005.

An extra point win to the Maroons then two thrashings by NSW- 2005 was only good if you were a Blues fan ;-) I'd say since then, 2007 or 09 were the most evenly matched series.

I meant in terms of quality both the first and second games were fantastic quality wise, shame game 3 was over by the 5th minute mark.

On the other hand I really don't rate the 2009 Origin series. Until game 3 the halves for NSW (in particular Wallace) suffered severe stage fright making it easy for the Maroons to dominate until game three where their minds didn't appear to be on the job.

2007 was a good series, I really wish the Blues had of won Game 2 and the Maroons had of won Game 3 in the circumstances they were in so it could get the respect it deserves.

Official list released...

"Blues in Waiting" camp this January

NSW Blues Coach Ricky Stuart has today announced a 51 man squad which will be invited to attend a "Blues in Waiting" camp at Homebush in January.

The three-day camp will begin Friday January 21 at 3pm and will conclude Sunday January 23 at 11am.

Stuart said one of the main objectives of the camp is to have players eligible for NSW Origin aware of pathways for selection and have some further knowledge regarding the tradition and history of State of Origin Rugby League.

"I am of firm belief that Origin victories are built on the culture and attitude of players and their desire to have respect for the NSW jumper," Stuart said.

"I am fully aware of the differences required for players to adapt to Origin football as compared to the weekly grind of the premiership and hopefully with these players we can make a difference at Origin time.

"Many of the players have progressed from very successful junior representative sides for New South Wales and into NRL teams and we believe they have the ability to progress further into senior Origin teams.

"One of the key messages for our 'Blues in Waiting' squad members will be that all they can do is prepare and be ready for when this time arrives."

The players will be put through some individual testing at the New South Wales Institute of Sport and one skill/drill session on the Saturday 21st at Homebush.
