Why not have a function where if you have a voice recognition programme and just incorporate into the game...add a name and match the commentators voice to it.

That wouldn't be feasible with our current (or near future) technology.

I think it would be most reasonable to compile a list of the most common Australian, New Zealand and British surnames. I couldn't Google one quickly but the following shows common Scottish surnames as an example:

http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/grosweb/grosweb.nsf/pages/surnames

I believe it would be best to record say the top 20-30 of those and perhaps find or compile a list of say 20-30 greatest players of all time and record them too.

I don't think you need to have every name under the sun perfectly pronounced and included. What me and my friends do is generally go through the list of players and find one with the closest surname. My real surname is "Dollin" and I found "Donlan" which was pretty close, so it's sort of my in-game persona :D I also have a friend whose surname is "Coles" and we went with "Colella" for him. That makes for heaps of fun

I think one of the issues that needs to be seriously addressed is player movement... the movement system in the current game makes for very awkward play and the try scoring animation is always the same so if you go for a corner try you usually end up with your player diving past the side-line... It would be good if you could say hold X (or whatever) and if your player was only 5-10 metres out you could have them bolt for the corner and do a one handed put down just over the line (like they do in real life)... Well thats just one aspect of the movement problem anyway, I also would like to see an option for the 5th tackle (or any tackle) so that instead of just have the option to pass you could also have a number of different things happen by holding different buttons before the player gets up for the playe-the-ball, for example when you get tackled immediately hold A and craig wing (I'm a roosters man) bolts into dummy half and try's to do a quick pick up and dart past the markers... or hold Y and you pass the ball deep to you play marker who will automatically go for a kick (for 5th tackl)... holding B could have you dummy half throw a short pass to a forward on the burst for a hit up... etc etc
you could have tonnes and tonnes of deapth added to the game by doing this sort of stuff in my opinion.

What do you think MARIO? I would really love extra options in attack like this, it would really add to the realism and you could tacke it further by being able to change your teams tactics in positioning during the match (like set your defence to group tackles or wider one-person leg grassing tackles, and setting attack to flat or deep etc).
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A SEQUEL THOUGH!!!!

dude wrong thread, post this in the sticky for Next Years Suggestions

Also, i thinnk Wynands, Hewitt and Hayes should be added.

Wouldnt mind all the voice-overs for every member of the 2005 squads, so a person doesnt have to had played FG to have the voice in, because some people like myself really like to use the full-squad without "The number 2" being said

Cheers Mario

To stop an overload of names.

Just let us nominate one name to add to the game. Ie, our own.

The same goes for commentary suggestions. We would have to record several thousand lines of commentary, so adding some of those suggested by people would not be hard.
It's too far out to recommend specific phrases or quotes for commentary but I do have a general question about this..

Instead of making up original (and sometimes corny) lines for Vossy or whoever, would it be easier collect all the channel 9 games that Vossy (if he retains commentry duties) has done the last few seasons in Ray Warrens absence, and pick out the best one liners and phrases that he did in real life situations and use those?

I'm not suggesting use the audio from channel 9's coverage, there would probably be a wide range of problems with that but would it be feasable to re-record the same lines again?

Also, if there was a sequal what are the chances that Vossy do it again? He did a great job in this game, but if there was a sequal announced I'd love to see Warren Smith get the gig. He probably wouldn't be as big of a drawcard being on Fox, where there aren't as many viewers as free to air, but he's the best caller imo.

And it would certainly fit better with my Fox sports scoreboard, although that would depend on whether or not the new scoreboard would have the same format.

There is only one piece of commentary I really want to hear , "on the burst" . I haven't heard it in years and I still can't work out why .

P.S. I think vossy is a terrible commentator , although clearly not as biased as some of his peers . Get Warren Boland on board , he is a true legend .

I think humorous comments go a long way to adding enjoyment to the game.

me and a mate have a full on comp whereby we play the full 80 minutes, best of three games wins.

The match can get pretty tense and a little light relief can do wonders.

there was one time we were thrashing it out, getting frustrated and cursing at the telly, when Vossy said

'How could the ref miss that? His eyes must be painted on'

I tell you we were buckled up laughing at that one. it made the match so much more enjoyable.

Video gaming is all about fun isnt it?

more comments like that would be great, not too many but a smattering of funny comments would be great.

When we used to go to games my brother in law had some great sayings that would get the crowd laughing. things like.

'He's broken a finger nail' (when someone was injured)
'He's tripped over his stocking'
'He's smudged his mascare'
'Handbags at 11 o'clock' (when a fight started)

stuff like that would be good.
