Why not an international nines tournament? Australia, NZ, England, France, Wales, Samoa, Tonga, PNG, Cook Islands, Ireland, Scotland, USA, Canada, Jamaica, Fiji, Lebanon. Would mostly be young up and comers, reserve graders and has beens but it seems to work alright for union.

Think the pro players deserve a rest in summer!

Dont players train their butt off in summer? This could be a good idea to maintain fitness and timing, while allowing time off for players who need surgury or rehab.

I would like to see the ARLC set up a Beach RL competition over the summer months rather than 7s or 9s. That can be left for a one-off tournament to start the season in about February.

Beach League is great if you have a beach. Havent seen any beaches at Canberra, Penrith, Canterbury or Parramatta.

Be inclusive of all areas. Make it "Mud League" instead. There is an instant nostalgic marketing link to the old Lidcome/Redfern/SCG days after 2 inches of rain!

Agree with Warrior. International Nine's, possibly youth only to see the young bloods come through.
