Super League 2006 Ins-and-Outs

Some more rumours and updates from this weeks UK league newspapers - by no means confirmed but interesting to think/talk about:

Sione Faumuina (NZ warriors utility) to join Andrew Johns at Warrington for a three-six match stint? (Warrington must have a lot of spare money...)

Bradford movements: Leon Pryce to St Helens? Mickey Higham in from St Helens?

Leeds chasing a winger, mentions of Australian Union converts Matt Rogers, Lote Tiquiri, or Wendell Sailor? (They'd have to show these "traitors" big money, but it's possible I guess.)

Halfback Stephen Myler (Widnes) negotiating with two unnamed Superleague clubs and Irish RU.

Wakefield chasing ex-Kiwi hooker Monty Betham for next year, who would need a release from the NZ Warriors?

French international Jerome Guisset from Wigan to Les Catalans (a no-brainer that one).

Austin Buchanan (York winger) to Wakefield on loan for rest of season, possibly a deal for next year? (Having seen him play live was impressive last season , but despite rumours couldn't get a Superleague start for this season. So signed on at York but injuries meant he didn't play much this year. Could cut it at higher level...)

There's also been rumblings that the Bulls might be going to pick up Chris McKenna and Marcus Bai from the Rhino's.

Only another 2 days until we can get some firm announcements about signings.

McKenna has all but re-signed with Leeds, and I read somewhere that Marcus Bai doesn't want to go anywhere. He likes it at Leeds.

Saying he's "all but re-signed" less than 48 hours from being a free-agent sounds suss to me, likewise if Bai was all that happy surely he'd have added his signature to the dotted line by now.

Leeds are rumoured to be announcing 3 signings tomorrow, Jamie Peacock from Bradford and 2 as yet un-named players. The latest rumours I've heard are Richie Barnett Jnr from Hull FC and Andy Raleigh from Hull KR but personally I think they will be looking at better players than those.

As Bradford have given permission for their players to talk to other clubs before the deadline a few of their departures could be announced tomorrow, namely Lee Radford (to Hull), Leon Pryce (to St Helens) and Stuart Reardon (to Warrington).

OK I don't follow the ESL that much so can someone fill me in:

Isn't the new restrictions keeping clubs to only recruiting three aussies/kiwis coming in next year? so what are teams such as Wigan and Warrington going to do? they seem to have a ton of ex pats.

What the hell is wrong with Bradford? I remember they used to be like the Chooks a few years ago the basically the benchmark club now it seems over the last 2 years they are releasing players left and right while signing crap ones.

Peacock, Radford, Pryce and Reardon leaves a HUGE hole in the team, I just hope there's good news on the horizon :(

Originally you were only allowed 3 foreigners in your team but because of a court case featuring a European handball player named Kolpak, clubs are not allowed to stop people from certain nations that are part of some trade union getting a job because of where they were born.Australia and New Zealand are not in this union, but the Pacific Islands are and teams find ways around it with Islander or British grandparents, passports etc.Hope that clears it up for you...

Peacock has been added to the list.

Widnes have re-signed the following players in their move down to NL1:
Terry O’Connor, Mick Cassidy, Mark Smith, Paul Alcock, Paul Crook, Tim Holmes, Phil Wood

And have given new contracts to youngsters Darren Woods, Paul O’Connor and Ryan Millington.

I guess that means the rest are up for grabs?

Bradford = stuffed.

Wouldn't be at all shocked to see Peacock end up down under, would be a great signing for any club.

Woo! Go Wakey!

Things aren't looking too good for Bradford next year...

They must have something up their sleeve, Micky Higham or Terry Newton are rumoured to be possible signings plus there is the Kimmorley rumour as well.

Hull have signed Sid Domic from Wakey.

Silly signing if you ask me.

There's also a major announcement expected from Huddersfield tomorrow...

A bit unexpected, can't see that helping their squad in any way?

Good thread Evil, the list is filling up well.
