Unfortunately they don’t seem to have the funds to make a proper go of it. They had a shot but their team building for SL showed they just don’t have the cash to compete. Needs a bigger mOney backer or bigger fanbase.

So after the dust has settled we say goodbye to Wakefield and hello to London for Superleague 2024.

Leeds have made some handy signings and should Be back in the playoffs next year,
hfc haven’t really signed much of note and may well miss out again.
Wigan have somehow found cap space to sign a formidable pack and will be hard to beat,
St’s might be in a bit of transition and drop a bit with retirements
catalans may drop a bit on back of Tompkins and Pearce retirements
hkr have signed well and will be knocking on the playoff door again
leigh will be interesting to see if they can maintain heir first season form
hudds and cas probably doing nothing again
london need to see who they sign but will be a long season for them I suspect
Warrington it’s always their year lol. Be interesting to see how burgess goes as coach

'The Super League Magic Weekend will not be held at Newcastle's St James' Park next year, Rugby League Live can reveal, with Leeds United's Elland Road set to host the event next year.

The 38,000-capacity stadium will become the sixth venue to host the event since its introduction in 2007, with next year's festival to take place on the weekend of August 17/18th. It has previously been staged at Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool and most recently, Newcastle.

It was initially hoped that the event would stay in Newcastle, with the city seen by many as the spiritual home of the event. But despite there being an appetite from local officials to retain the event, logistical issues meant a date that worked for both parties could not be reached. Next year's Challenge Cup Final will be staged in June and with officials keen to spread out the big events, it meant a May date wasn't preferable.'

The event is one of the biggest weekend's in rugby league's calendar.

The campaign is due to begin on Friday, February 16, which is a year to the day since Leeds Rhinos opened the 2023 season with a 42-10 defeat at Warrington Wolves.
Clubs will announce their first home game this Wednesday, November 22 and full fixtures will be published on Thursday morning.

Next year’s Betfred Challenge Cup final has already been announced for Saturday, June 8. The Grand Final will be played on Saturday, October 12.

I think the bigger issue is that even with IMG, it appears that there’s still no real long term planning/overall strategy for growing and running the game over here. So much has been made of the rating system that everything else is getting swept under the rug.
