mahi mahi please

best eating fish eva
Had some Mahi Mahi poke and also had a dig at some mahi mahi sashimi while in hawaii.

Have to agree Twiz, if it isn't the best it gets a podium finish. King Fish sashimi also deserves a special mention.

well taste is subjective Baz but without squabbling over personal taste I have to agree with your top 4,

I would have Sweetlip and Blue Eyed Cod making up the top 6 in any order as it can depend on where they are from and how fresh etc

I eat fresh fish probably 3 or 4 times a week

Blue-eye goes good, but pricey AF. Red Emperor are king IMO but that could likely encompass most "red fish" like Large & Small Mouth Nannygai and a bunch of sweetlip/emperor species (Spangos are delicious too).

Not as many top fish down south sadly unless you go offshore. Snapper are great on the chew when dead fresh, whiting are pretty good. Flathead is a bit overrated IMO, but still tasty. Kingies are probably the pick. Nothing like Emperor or Coral Trout though.

I'm also partial to a couple of thick Spaniard steaks.

Swordfish goes pretty good.

Blue maomao was the top of the nz list. Will not take any bait or lure whatsover and need a commercial size net or dynamite to catch but i managed to foul hook one by a complete fluke one time and was orgasmic

Huh...I did not know what a blue maomao was until I just Googled it. Turns out they're a sweep?

Never thought they were much chop, but that species is rare in Aus so I dunno

Blue eyed cod are expensive as they only come from FNQ so the freight costs are high, so my fish co-op tells me

Other direction, my guy.

Blue-eye is a deep sea temperate species. Not even a cod, actually a medusafish and officially called blue-eye trevalla. Normally found anywhere down to about 2000m. Range in Australia is Southern WA around the south all the way up to QLD. They're expensive because they're hard to fish; they can't be reliably netted, so they need to be long-lined often in very deep water.

Tasty as though.

Head down to milford sound in the south island of nz and drop a line about 300m down and you can pull one of these. That was a fun morning

Anyone know what fish Maccas use in the filet o fish?

It flakes like a real fillet..

But if they get every fillet so square, what’s happening to the off cuts?

Cricket is shit. Middle a late cut and gully gets it on the wrist, into the man boob, then wraps it in the gut.....f**k off fat blokes in first grade!!!

But when you win by over 100 defending 170 and your opener gets 6 fa including 4 in 4 balls I guess it's not the worst game
