Supercoach tactics by the Great man.

Can someone please explain to me that In 100 minutes of football and with 12 man down, why does Fafita only play 12 minutes?

Warren Ryan cops it... for taking Roachy and Sirro off in the 89 GF. At least I understood what the Wok was trying to do back then but I will never understand farkwits thinking with Fafita. Can anyone tell me?. His use of the bench over the years has been disgraceful and has bit him big time.

Noone else has said it, so here goes.

The Tigers started to go to pieces when Murdoch-Maisala came on. Sure, the kid looks like a great prospect and he did one or two very handy things out there, but he just didn't slot in. Looked a little out of his depth. Not the time to bring in a rookie.

OK, I know he didn't cost us the game, but I reckon if Fifita had come on when Murdoch did, we would all be singing a different tune today...

Yeah.... i cannot understand why Fifita didn't come instead of Murdoch-Maisala.... And also....why did it take 70 minutes for Fifita to come on???

Fafita has proved to be a game breaker. He could have been the X- factor we needed as he has showed in previous games. So what's the problem supercoach? Can you explain to everyone. Oh sorry, who are WE to question the Great one ?

I agree totally. In hindsight this game has so many if’s & but’s & it was a cruel fate that let victory slip from their grasp.

But I do believe the decision to bring on Murdoch-Masala ahead of Fafita, allowed the momentum to shift to the Roosters. Having Fafita on the bench for so long was a mistake.

No disrespect to Murdoch-Masala, it was a tough ask to step up to finals footy & everyone is entitled to some rookie errors. I think Sheens thought he had it in the bag & decided to blood the rookie rather than close out the game – I doubt he would do the same again?

Without question, the Tigers played their guts out; especially those individual plays late in the game, where they boys had to reach deep down for something extra & charge down kicks with zero left in the tank, is absolutely a proud moment for the club.

Look at the Roosters secnd try of the second half. Watch Fifita, the freshest guy on the field, not bother trying to shift laterally with Friend (he had called that side in defence) and Friend opens the overlap. I don't agree with Murdoch being in the side but Fifita was a massive part of the Roosters game plan. Imagine if he had done more work and more minutes how many more times he would have been exposed?

Our forwards wer the dominant force on the park until the Roosters pushed the boundaries for walking off the mark and taking out the markers coming out of their own end. Hayne wouldn't penalise them and they got a roll on that killed us

Along with having a winger on the bench clock up an average game time of 3 minutes per game all season long, this other tactic seems unfathomable to me. What the hell was he thinking?

The players did play their guts out..full credit to them...but they didn't have to if the interchange was used properly, I reckon we would have got them...but then again I'm not a "4 premiership winning coach". He didn't look after his players.

Gronk, Supercoach should have instilled more confidence in Fafita. His confidence would have been dented somewhat sitting on his hands for all of that game and seeing a FG rookie get the nod over you.

I can see your point, but about 10 minutes before Robbie kicked our field goal is when Fifita should have been put on. We were killing them, had all the ball and only needed one more try that would have finished them off. I still don't understand why Murdoch was brought on before him, Fifita has played first grade nearly all season, is his lateral defence worse than Murdoch's? I doubt it. Murdoch is a massive unit as well.

No disrespect to Murdoch, he looks like he will be a gun player, but he should have gotten those 8 minutes at the end of the match, not Fifita.

I'm tending towards agreement with you there, mac. I know I had a few things to say in the SFS v LO discussion before the game, but on reflection I think we blew it.

IMO the simple fact is that Al Schirnack should have taken Murdochs spot in the 17 on Saturday night. He is an aggresive tackler, runs with purpose and is a great lateral defensive player.

I saw the point in saving Fifita but not considering his replacement.

We had the vocal crowd advantage. Hayne had other idea in mind.

At the end of the day though kicking cost us. We were up 3 tries to two at the 80 minute mark but were tied up

Should have been shirnack or some one else- Murdoch is a fifita clone...... You would think sheens would give these guys some regular game time during the season.....

Why is it not unlimited interchange in extra time??

i can never understand supercoachs tactics a bench that never gets used, old blokes on the bench, not blooding any young blokes and then in a semi final he decides to blood an toyota cup player his 1st game in the top grade just seems strange.

I don't know what supercoach is trying to prove. We are dying in the ass towards the later stages of the game. He played Fifita for 13 minutes and didn't give Fitzy a run (granted)....but it's a 17 man game and if Campo plays that last 10 mintues, we lose and supercoach gets his ass kicked. Great escape for him.

The Tigers have done well to get where they have so far. If you could imagine the Dragons without Soward or Roosters without Pearce or Carney then the impact of Moltzen's loss would be understood by supporters of other clubs.

I wonder if playing only 3 men off the bench and fading towards the ends of games have anything to do with one another?
