Don't let it upset you. The sense of occasion changes behaviour; I would think this is simply what is happening rather than a strengthening of the bond.

Not that I'm dissing or dismissing; just trying to help you cling to what you need when the break comes...

Oh, I know. We are both aware of it, but it does make things a tad more difficult. I'll be right. Got plenty on the horizon to look forward to.

Step brothers funeral on Wednesday.

Mum and her husband have asked me to go.

Not sure what I'm going to do.

Don't know how you can break a relationship off slowly, like you are doing atm.

Just a bad situation imo. You need to cut and run asap. Just get it over with. Otherwise, emotions could get the better of you and you may do something you both regret later.

A clean break is a good break.

Emotions are fickle things...

Do it for your mum. If not, you would always regret it.

Was just about to say the same thing. If it makes a difference to your mum and step-father (I assume he's ok?) then you win despite the crap you may cop.

I've done it once before, but in that case we got along wonderfully and were very much in love. It was just unavoidable because her visa was ending and our options were:
- Get married
- Pay $4000 for a spousal visa
- Break up

We opted to spend the time we could together and then split.

-----

This time around has been less fun. We've never been perfect together and probably would have broken up earlier in normal circumstances. Her being alone here has made me feel obliged to stick by her (which isn't the chore I sometimes make it sound).

Either way, it's all done in roughly 48 hours.

I miss that smell, sometimes it really sucks not being able to smell anything, but then with some "ladies" it could be considered a bonus.
