i remember either 04 or 05 fox sports commentator summing it up pretty good after scoring a ridiculous try against the sharks "and matty bowen has scored a try that only matty bowen can", pre-knee recons was freakish watching a guy that could hit full speed in 3 steps and actually accelerate and side step at the same time.

Also remember when we use to play the dogs at carrara stadium and this time it was the friday night after origin that mango played in and backed it up with a MOM (think that is why he was being interviewed in the sheds) performance in a 40 point flogging of them, said atleast 4 sentences in some language only known to him. Was replayed on boots'n'all by gus on that sunday and he stared befuddled at the screen and said "i have watched that atleast 10 times now and i still have no idea what he said" lol

He was always a mystery when he spoke...generally he was fine, occasionally he deadset spoke in tongues :lol:

When they had that run in 04, i was living in tvl went down for their semis in sydney (still f**king ropable at simpkins for that game, but that is for another time) and after both games was lucky enough to get on the turps with the boys and pretty much every celebrity/hanger oner from NQ at the Novotel in Coogee. Mango was fine when you would talk to him, he must just get real nervous with the media.

God that was an amazing 3 weeks of my life that semis run in 2004. First time ive slept out for tickets (broncos semi) wish we could have those days again :-(
