Still don't get the concept behind having all the games in Sydney....it's not like the state grounds aren't set up for TV

My gorgeous daughter, Theodora, was born yesterday evening at 11:27. Bub is great, wife is recovering from 20 hour labour (she was 3cm dilated at 3am on Sat morning) but is otherwise healthy and happy.

I'm at a loss, to be honest, but got skin-to-skin contact 10 min after birth for about 20 minutes. Oh my - if that isn't one of the most powerful things I've ever experienced in my life... :D

There really is nothing like it! Congrats to you and the now family!

Thank you all for your kind messages :D

Here is the little 'gift' holding her mum's hand this morning.

Mate... Just... Wow. Everyone tells you its going to be a ride, but nothing prepares you. Its like tearing off every emotional barrier and feeling the full force of the human condition. Just spectacular!

Cute.

See you in a few months!

Looks like this will go right down to the wire at this stage, more swings than a playground.

Still don't get the concept behind having all the games in Sydney....it's not like the state grounds aren't set up for TV

VICTORIAN cricket fans face a shutout from the national 50-over competition, the Ryobi Cup, one year out from the MCG hosting the World Cup final.

Cricket Australia is set to shrink the schedule and play all matches in Sydney in October.

The Herald Sun believes teams will play six matches at grade cricket venues and, depending on availability, the SCG.

Last summer, the Ryobi Cup was played across 165 days, culminating on February 26 when Queensland defeated Victoria in an epic final at the MCG.

But in a five-Test Ashes summer and with a greater emphasis on the Twenty20 Big Bash, the 50-over competition will start and finish in about three weeks.

A Cricket Australia spokesman confirmed the overhaul of the format.

"The thinking is to play the format in a condensed block at the beginning of the season,'' he said.

"That will separate the Ryobi and the Shield, so players don't switch from format to format so much throughout the year.

"Having it in a tournament format more closely resembles the duration and intensity of the Cricket World Cup.

"It'll give players at state level a taste of what to expect if they ever do make it at international level. We're pretty close to having it finalised.

"We think it'll provide a really strong start to the domestic cricket season.''

Cricket Australia downplayed the blow to fans, declaring: "The Ryobi Cup has never been a tournament that has had significant attendances at it.''

Asked about playing all matches in Sydney, he said: "That's an accurate assertion to make.

"The thinking is, 'Let's play it in one city that has the appropriate facilities to accommodate all the matches'.

"That reduces the need for teams to travel, enables us to have it in a short and sharp block and focuses attention on the one location.''

Cricket Victoria cricket manager Shaun Graf said the states had been reluctant to reduce the number of Ryobi Cup matches but understood Cricket Australia's position.

"After discussions with them we certainly got a great understanding of the scheduling issues they've got," Graf said.

"They've said it will be a one-off and will be happy to look at it again next year.

"So even though we're not happy about it, and we understand from a fan's point of view that they might want to go and have a look at a one-day game, we're happy to go with Cricket Australia on it.''

He said the Bushrangers would play matches at the SCG, Hurstville Oval and North Sydney.

Basically nobody wanted to broadcast it and the ACB makes it's cash from 20/20 cricket.

Play it all in a month in one venue and clear a schedule for the big bash

Because the Ryobi cup has been put on fast forward to accommodate the T20s it's a lot easier to just have the thing in one place if you want to get through it quickly. Saves a shitload of travel.

Cutting has always been decent with the bat.

Good stuff Bulls.

He's a dime a dozen lower order slogger who should never have been given the freedom to cut loose like that. Poor bowling cost us, and tbh bowling has been something of an issue for us all tournament. Ah well, top game at least, QLD took it away when given a sniff

Watch Cutting get hyped up as the new Big Show...

I know the idea BM. I just think it's geniused.
I agree it is geniused. First it was Test cricket getting f**ked around to accommadate T20, now it's one dayers. It's terrible for cricket longterm.

One of the best dime a dozen lower order sloggers in the country tbh. He was afforded too many opportunities this afternoon but it isn't like this type of performance was a fluke.
