It is puzzling. Everyone hates them, and yet they have more success and money than a lot of us here...

They are easy to mock because they're the definition of formulaic drivel and Chad Kroeger somehow went from rocky looking guy to trying to look like Ryan Seacrest. There are much worse bands out there but that doesn't make them good.

As a kid I quite enjoyed their early stuff because I was a teenager and teenagers have NFI about anything. I don't think people hate them because they're terrible per se, although they objectively are, they hate them because they actually have it in them to be an acceptable commercial rock band and have instead made a conscious decisions to be total douchebags making music for total douchebags.
