Thinking Penang, Langkawi and then probably finish up with a few days in KL so the missus can spend whatever cash we have left over before the trip home. I like a bit of diversity in a holiday and Malaysia sounds like it offers that. I've done Thailand to death and I have no ambition to go near Bali. Probably a toss up between Malaysia, Laos / Vietnam or the Philippines. Waiting to see what Mis thinks of the Phillipines after his trip in a few weeks.

Philippines is quite good. Spent 2 weeks there and enjoyed it.

Manilla has a lot of variety; the old Spanish sites and the America WWII sites. Laoag is very isolated, but has some interesting things to see. Vigan you could spend a few days there; world heritage listed town that is conserved as it was from the Spanish days. Boracay is one of the most brilliant little islands you coul ever go to. A little touristy, but very beautiful and the Lonely Planet coffee shop there has one of my Top 5 coffee's of all time.

Didn't get to do much more, but exchange rate is reasonable and the one thing I wished I could see was the rice fields but never got there.

Well worth it. The Filipino's are great people too.

I really like five star hotels and when we went we decided to stay our last three nights in KL at the westin. When we checked in I upgraded to a suite. f**k me was it fantastic.

If you want to fly cheap air asia to KL from the Gold Coast was like $200 each
