Be careful chasing happiness, mate. It's not something you find, it's a byproduct of the life you're living. Hope you follow what I mean.

It's a fine line to chase happiness and to chase a position that gives you the best chance of being happy.

I've never really been happy in China, sadly. I've had good times here, but it's never felt quite as good as Korea did.

I'm too wise now to think I can go back to Korea and recapture the bottled lightning that made my time there so good.

Thailand felt right to me when I was there. On top of that, I've been making excuses and putting off writing my novel for so long now. It's time I removed all excuses and just isolated myself for a while and wrote.

I also want to see if I can make a real fist of turning my blog into something I can live off. Others have done it, and mine's certainly raked in some good money, but I'd love to try the self employed thing.

Mostly, though, I just need another change of scene - and I'm in no hurry to lump myself back in the 9 to 5.

I contemplated that; but where I can go to Thailand with $3000 or so in the bank and be fairly comfortable for a while, even conservative budgets for Europe were putting a single month at that cost.

I've come to the realisation lately that I may be a terrible person.

I work 14 hours a week with minimal responsibility, and I'm planning to pursue a life next year where all I do is write/blog, sleep, party, and travel.

Some people save for years to do this. I'll just be doing it on what I've got in savings now.

Where the f**k is my work ethic?

So far, writing is the only thing that has that effect on me. I've thought long and hard about what else I'd do for free - and I've come up with hobbies, and (board) game design.

The latter is even harder to break into than writing fantasy novels :lol:

Good shit. Whether it's work or a hobby that keeps you getting out of bed every morning, I say power to you.

Depression being what it is, it's rare I ever want to get out of bed. Hoping a sea change will change that.

It's what I've always been told I'm best at. I'm just pathologically afraid of rejection, so make excuses not to finish something and submit it.
