THE whole 'no sex' thing is a deal breaker on the Catholic side tbh.

Yes. It's a shame they have interpreted the bible incorrectly on that one and spent years justifying it.

I'd make a great televangelist.

What would you sell? :sarcasm:

Church is the worst. Hated it when school forced me to go...

What school did you go to?

what's a church?

Technically, the origin of the word was a group forming for a common purpose. So if you formed a weekly group to talk about philosophy, it was a church.

Its been coopted by the Christian meaning though.

The only issues I have with church is the group prayers and tithing.

I'm pretty sure I read in the bible once that prayer was to be a personal thing done in private between you and God.

Surely a large gathering of people in a public place saying prayers to God is defying that and is actually a sin.

And then there's the tithing. Last church I went to allowed you to make donations via your credit card.

Doesn't it say in the bible that man should give a percentage of his money to God (via church etc).

I don't own the money on a credit card. Again, another sin.

If the church can't abide by some simple stuff like that, then why should I trust them to lead me in the right direction?

Therefore, I just don't go to church, I believe if I a good person and I treat people well and help those in need, then my soul will be at peace, whether I believe in a God or not.

I did laugh  I hope you didn't take offence. But your humour makes me giggle.

"The God I believe in isn't short of cash"

- Bono.

Funnily enough, both theologically accurate and stated by a Christian.

Tithing is supposed to go to the church to support charitable works and those who work vocationally for the church; not for God. He doesn't need the money.

Which year are you asking about?

 List them all!

Why so many? And were your folk 'religious' or just preferred the education?

I was a defence force kid. Folks were raised Catholic but really just chose private schools for us because Defence paid a certain % of the fees and they preferred the education standards at private schools. Especially in Canberra and Adelaide

Plus I have a 5km fun run in 7 weeks. Probs gonna die.

Depends where the cavemen were from, I doubt European cavemen would have eaten loads of potatoes.

Makes sense. Attended two Catholic schools. I do rate their education, just not their theology.

You'll do well Dani :) I know it!
