I'd never heard of Barnesy or Chisel until we moved back to Sydney.

The only reason people don't rate Cold Chisel is because Barnsey is terrible.

Their guitarist (Ian Moss, I think?) is actually a very talented musician IMO.

But then again, so is Wes Borland...

I think ACDC are the greatest ever Aussie band. The Bon Scott version, not the current incarnation.

I think Crowded House are the best to come from this region but I'm not going to claim them as Aussie.

Making it in America is not necessarily a sign of greatness. Savage Garden cracked the American market and they were shit.

I'm well in the minority, but I love Brian Johnson.

To me, AC/DC is and always will be Malcolm and Angus Young, anyway.

Meh. Cold Chisel cop a bad wrap because Khe Sahn has been utterly played into the ground, but Don Walker was a fine songwriter. Flame Trees, Bow River, Standing on the outside etc are really good songs.

Better than the middle aged housewife pap written by INXS.

Great band

Crowded House are fantastic. Haven't actuallly heard their last two albums, but their run before their first break up was awesome.

Been some good Australian punk bands as well. Frenzal of course, but The Saints, The Meanies, the Hard Ons, Radio Birdman and recent stuff like The Smith Street Band and The Bennies.

Plus almost anything Nick Cave has leant his hand to. Especially Grinderman, awesome.

Plenty of good Australian music out there.

I hate them because I think they suuuuuuck.

They're an ok band, but then I see some people claiming them to be Australia's greatest ever band, and I think, "Lolwut?"

Perhaps that clouds my judgement somewhat and makes me dislike them further.

I mean, like I said, I'm not a massive INXS fan, by they were huge back in the day.
