5 minutes of Google and you're again completely wrong.

I worked in TV's for about 3 years. The panel may be from the same factory, but they are not the same quality and the back electronics, which produce the picture for you, are most certainly inferior in range.

Samsung, Sony and Panasonic are still the kings of the industry. Your suggestion a Kogan is 'essentially the same' is completely wrong.
Just stating what I see on TV as you have on google. Anyway each to their own.

Muzby  love that idea mate.

Eh, they do use the panels. The thing that separates them is the processing on board. Give me a Kogan and a pc and i'll get the quality up around the mid range samsungs, easy. Plug in a dvd player and don't configure the colours and contrast and of course it will look shit.

Another thing everyone confuses is they hear "same as Samsung" they think of the Samsung flagship models. No, it's the base models, and a kogan is easily as good as a base model Samsung.

Same factory, not the same panels. Components aren't finished product.

Of course you can tune them to look better. That's not the issue. Most people don't know how to do it though. That's the struggle.

Base Samsung models are all designed in a way that should generate an almost immaterial difference than the flagship models to anyone that isn't an audio/videophile. Barring setup discrepancies of course.

Most of the 'quality of picture' stuff is spin, as you are right - you can tune your TV to give a better picture. But claiming they're the same as a manufacturer like Samsung is just plain lies.

I reckon you should just add them each night. Make it look like they're multiplying.

i considered that... essentially i'm trading off creating an increasing level of confusion (adding a few / doubling each night) versus a complete shock & confusion by leaving all there at once..

whilst both have their merits, there are further measures that need to be considered with the building confusion one..

these include the following:
  • risk of others taking the TVs - reduces the overall prank impact
  • risk of getting caught - if you start to see a regular pattern occuring of more tvs getting dumped at your house, any smart home owner will be observing the lawn over the coming nights
  • less cost effective - will take more in petrol, thereby incurring a worse cost:humour ratio than option 2
  • need for ongoing surveillance - a prank is only as good as the reaction.. if you've done it all in one hit, you can just be 'casually walking the dog past' when the person opens their front door.. but you do this repeatedly, they'll get suspicious

Fair call. It's all about the trade off, do you go cheap and rig it yourself or spend nearly twice the amount for minimal gains?

The Sony TV in my room has lasted a fair while. Only a 28"" and it was $400 back when I got it. Still working mostly fine now but I'd love to upgrade as it's just that bit too small when I lay in bed and watch it. I have some shitty archaic cabinet around it though which I'd have to piss off as well.

I have 3 tellys in my house and didnt pay a red cent for any of them

All 3 came from customers who upgraded their Video conference screens and didnt want to haul the old ones away themselves. All LCDs and all FullHD

Father-in-law works at a nursing home and if something stops working, they usually just chuck stuff instead of trying to get it fixed because the difference in cost is negligible. They were going to chuck out a TV (relatively new) because it wasn't working properly. He took it and worked out that it was just the remote that was broken. Bought the cheapest universal remote he could find and has it set up in their entertaining area. Total cost $20

Another option is you could set up an old couch, stick two large TV's and a small one in the middle on the lounge, then set up a couple of mannequins in the front of them. Not only is it a good prank, but artistic too!

Fair call. It's all about the trade off, do you go cheap and rig it yourself or spend nearly twice the amount for minimal gains?

Yep, that's the enduring question. Working out what customer fit into which of those two categories was everything when I worked in the industry.

Today is the best day of my week. I slept until 1.30pm, watched Louie while eating soup, and now I have a single two hour class before I can go back to bed.

Tomorrow goes alright too. 8am class sucks, but then I am done until my date with Kenya

No Dani you got rorted :(

Plenty of 32 inch tvs way cheaper than that with USB ports for hard drives with inclusive built-in DVD players. You paid that much because it's Samsung.

http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/32-led-tv-hd-dvd-player-combo-za/

Kogan uses Samsung products inside their tvs, everything inside your tv and this one are the same.

Dani is happy with her recent acquisitions, obvioisly.

Why the f**k to you have to shoot her down an criticise ?

None of you f**king business.
