The result is the result. It should never change due to the errors of an official.

I agree the result is the result - I'm suggesting when an official has unalteringly affected the game, then it should be overturned.

The only time a result should change is if one team has been found to be entered into the contest illegally. Even then, the result shouldn't just be changed to indicate that the loser becomes the winner. The contest should just be called null and void.

Can't agree with you on that. Take your example to an extreme - if the siren malfunctions and doesn't go off, and the referee's allow the game to go for another minute, and Melbourne score then - are you suggesting we allow that to happen?

The issue is this isn't a grey situation - its black and white. The referee calls time and they don't score, ergo, we win.

lol if the video refs weren't completely blind and useless, Merrin's try would have been disallowed.

It was one of the more obvious examples of offside and they still couldn't get it right...

Agree completely on that too.

I believe in this situation the result should be changed because it is very easy to see the consequences of the mistake. No mistake, dragons win, end of story.

But if you have say a 14th man in the 25th minute, whether a try is scored or isn't scored you can't say with certainty how the correct call would have affected the rest of the game.

Last weekend is very simple and in that situation the result should be changed.

I try to apply the logic that it's much harder to officiate on things in real-time to touchies but it just doesn't satisfy me. They are consistently hopeless.

If Parra weren't awarded the 2009 premiership (rightly so, I might add, I sure as shit didn't want it) then why should St George be awarded points here, is my opinion. Perhaps Melbourne could lose the points, but even then I don't feel it would be right. Shit happens.

A dud decision early in the first half isn't comparable to a dud decision in the 80th minute. Or so Dogs fans have been telling me for the last 5 years. ;-)

The two points should be stripped from Melbourne and given to Parramatta for reparations for Kearney and '09.
