I'll be studying so I'll get money for that and I'll be living in a share house so that'll minimise costs. The savings was just so I'd be in a position to take care of one offs like bond payments, first month rent, etc etc. I already have certificates in accounting and real estate so hopefully at some point I'll be able to line up traineeships/entry level things in either of those fields.

Before I even find work I'll have $900 a month as a student and parents will be throwing around $500 a month my way (that's less than I'm costing them atm so they're profiting). So I'll be fed and clothed until I find work.

In all seriousness, Victoria police has a much more generous policy than NSW police. In NSW you cop a hecs debt and don't get paid while studying. In Victoria you're on a salary of $53k from day 1 of study. Just one more of many reasons why Victoria > NSW.
