I'm curious then, JM. You don't identify with people demographically who would benefit the most from Libertarianism. Why do you hold the view? Purely curious.

Are you guys ready for the future?

But as long as Tony Abbott is f**king up our beautiful nation, this won't be possible...

Have you seen the plans?

https://fiber.google.com/cities/provo/plans/

Pay a $30 construction fee and you get better Internet than almost every Australian for free for life. $70 a month and you get 1gB upload and download, $120 a month you get pay TV and a Nexus 7 tablet.

B. Information Technology, major in software development.

All of the above, actually. I am basically doing this degree so I can get a job and support myself, but I feel very much like I'm just doing it so I can feel like I'm progressing towards something.

I chose B.IT because I figured it's something I'd be good at it, having spent a lot of time on computers. However as I alluded to it's not something I actually want to do. In fact it's probably the exact opposite of what I want to do ironically, I have big hang-ups about spending the rest of my life in front of a computer in general; I have honestly already done enough of that for several lifetimes and I'm only 23, and it's already a constant source of regret in my life.

It probably hit me hard today as I spent over 6 hours trying to do part of this programming assignment and by the end I just felt like I had wasted an entire day doing something I didn't even enjoy and could not see me doing for 6 hours a day every day.

To compound the problem, I already have a degree. I spent 2009 - 2012 at University completing a B. Mathematics. It didn't really work out, I couldn't find a job for it so I ended up going back this year for reasons stated above. So going through all this rubbish again is fairly depressing and makes it all feel like an even bigger depressing waste of time.

The problems go deeper than all that though on a personal level unfortunately which is probably the catalyst for the current misery. Le sigh.

Keep your chin up Apey, life is full of highs and lows everyone experiences this. With your Mathematics degree what career options are available that would suit you?

I can't decide which of the two VPNs that I'm paying for I hate more:

IPVanish for seemingly losing its ability to attempt a connection, or Astrill for continually reallocating my account to obvious spam email accounts (P.anado.L@hotmail.com, this time) and arguing with me every time I try to remedy the problem.

i can think of a couple...

http://www.seek.com.au/job/26536144

http://www.seek.com.au/job/26541650

but again, apey, don't stress too much about the degree you have.. just finish it off and move into something that suits what interests you.. for example i have a mate who was an IT geek, but found he enjoyed the dealing with people part more than the actual tech stuff..

so he found a role with a software company as a solutions consultant, where he did a lot of the customer facing stuff, and provided the brief to the tech guys to do the work..

the benefit of his background in IT means that he can actually do the consulting part of it really well as he 'gets' what needs to be done, so to speak..

I've got it narrowed down to one of thse 5:

http://www.open.edu.au/courses/arts...communications--cur-net-deg-2014#course-units
http://www.open.edu.au/courses/arts...r-of-communication--grf-com-deg-2014#overview
http://www.open.edu.au/courses/busi...y-chain-management--rmi-log-deg-2014#overview
http://www.open.edu.au/courses/it/r...puting-studies--rmi-cpt-deg-2014#course-units
http://www.open.edu.au/courses/it/s...nformation-systems--swi-cis-deg-2014#overview

Mostly either Communication or Technology interest me. But I'm not too attached to any. All those are open entry so anyone can do them. If I picked one and didn't like it the important thing would just be to complete and pass 4 units and then I can get into almost any degree in a real offline uni.

If I do go into policing for real one day it certainly won't be in NSW.

In NSW you have a $30k HECS debt and for the 8 months of study you get Youth Allowance which is $200 a week.

In Victoria you get no HECS debt and are paid a wage from day 1 of study. So you actually end up financially ahead just by joining the police academy. Rather than the alternative which is basically no income and a big debt just for committing yourself to public service.

If a Police force ever gets the privilege of BM's service it will be Victoria Police, not the stingy organisation in this state.

Clive Palmer is the X factor here. If he's smart he could singlehandedly bring an early election (by just voting against the things the ALP/Greens have already come out against). If they kill the $7 medicare payment, uni changes and newstart changes the government would have no choice but to go to an election. That would suit him because he's polling well ahead of where he was at the last election.

If the non libs in the senate can unify this government won't see Christmas.

BUT he's just as likely to be swayed by the government conveniently giving him a mine he wants.

You could join the VIC Police and get paid fairly well while you study and then work. Approx $800/w for the first 12 weeks then $1100/w for the next 21 weeks all during your training period.

Further education is massive in the Police these days and they will pay for further studies including degrees provided they are aligned is some way towards Policing. I know people who have done it in areas such as the Police Media Branch, Intelligence analyst, Communications Branch etc

I know the bit about the frustration of not being able to get a job out of a degree. Although I'm enjoying what I'm doing at present in my second degree.

Still, if nothing else (and I doubt this has any effect) I find this the most uplifting, enjoyable album of the last few years.
