I avoided watching the wire because I wanted to move to Baltimore and come to my own opinion first.

After 4 years here I started season 1.

Finished the lot in about 6 weeks. It certainly portrays one part of the city, but there's that side to every city. The drug wars of the 90s are gone and the murder rate is half what it was at the peak.

Also: Bunk and Freamon are gods.

Actually rewatched the wire recently as well. TBH, Second time round I saw a lot of plot holes and story lines that went off the rails a bit. Also, some of the characters became super hero like, As Marlo said about Omar 'that's some Spider-Man shit right there'. And one of my only real thumbs down from the series reappeared - too much focus on very unlikable characters like f**king Ziggy and Carcetti.

That said, still the best show on the box since my mother the car.

Bunk, Partlow, Slim Charles, Avon for life.

Worth it Twiz.

I've been watching season 1 of Luther which is hyped up as a great BBC drama. Not exactly rubbish but pretty close to it.

So I look out my window and Calvert street Baltimore is blocked by protesters re: Ferguson Missouri.

Let's hope everyone stays calm. Baltimore is still recovering from the riots in the 60's.

What they showed on the news this morning isn't too encouraging. More protests are planned for tonight it seems.

Yeah the Carcetti story in The Wire gets old after a while, I forgot about him.
