Scheme is wrong word. Overreach is probably accurate. I watch a show on TV, or record it for private use - that's ok. I download a show from overseas FTA, to watch personally, that's not ok. Makes no sense
So it's not copyright you really have an issue with as much as the licensing system distributors and studios use to maximise profits?
I realise it comes other copyright, but to me signing a cheque for someone else to create something isn't creation and copyright is there to protect those who create.
You seem to be taking issue with the way the entertainment business operates around copyright rather than copyright itself.
