Another person who doesn't understand what racism means.

You do know it's not racist if you hate a person or group of people for their actions rather than their race right??

So if I say I hate ISIS it doesn't mean I don't like Muslims.

Yes I hate Islam, but I hate all religion. This doesn't make me racist.

Yes I don't agree with Halal, because I don't like religion, and I don't like animal cruelty. This does not make me racist. My halal post in the other thread was a partial troll, I eat cadbury products all the time. Get over it.

Didnt say they were a luxury, but why are tampons any more important than soap, clothes, petrol, food etc? Why do feminists feel the need to campaign against taxing tampons but not other more essential items?

I would also say condoms are a lot more essential than tampons to prevent the spread of disease and unwanted pregnancy.

That just goes to show how ass-backwards the taxation is. Things like soap, condoms, tampons, sunscreen etc. should all be listed as essential.

Certain foods are already not taxed, so I'm not sure what you're hoping to achieve by putting them in there. Are you saying we shouldn't pay tax on Big Macs or imported ice cream?

And petrol sure as hell should be taxed. Anything and everything to ween us off an incredibily finite, destructive resource.

So why do these campaigners only campaign for tampons and not other products?

You cant just single out Tampons IMO. This is discriminating against other products.

Petrol is still a necessity though. Taxing it wont wean us off it. Investing in new technologies and making these technologies cheap and accessible will.

Discrimination against other products? And they're the ones looking for something to whinge about?

Saying that Pauline Hanson had good policies is racist because her policies were racist.

Additionally, saying that Pauline Hanson, a fascist was a good person is certainly questionable.

Saying Pauline Hanson had good policies is an opinion. Pauline Hansons policies were rascist, not the opinion supporting them. ie supporting a policy that is 'left wing' or 'right wing' does not make you a left or right wing supporter; just that you support that specific policy.

However, saying Pauline Hanson had good policies shows a lack of political acumen.

Come on Drew, it's a racist opinion. Supporting racist ideas is in itself racism or at the bare minimum strongly indicative of racism.

I'll admit its borderline but not indicative; he might support the intent but not the manifestation ie wanting employment for current residents and nationals preferenced as a point of nationalistic pride rather than the rascist bent it takes.

Here's another example. I support Tony Abbott preventing terrorists getting into the country, but want refugees allowed in.

As such, I would be ok with border checks for anyone coming from the Middle East. Does that make me rascist? Of course not.

Isn't it borderline profiling (a form of racism) to only apply such measures to people coming in from the Middle East?

It's narrow minded, but not unnecessarily IMO. Profiling is genuinely useful in certain situations

That said, it's a narrow approach given terrorists are just as likely to come from, say, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the subcontinent...

I was being anecdotal, and accept Baz's broader def. Was making a point is all.
