f**k, Aussie politics are depressing.

It's literally (figuratively) a douche and turd sandwich situation in my electorate. National Candidate, Fred Nile Candidate, conservative independent, and a pretentiously douchey green that I know personally and would rather see ride an Indian bus in a miniskirt than put in charge of anything.

I had the excitement of a Nationals candidate, a Fred Nile candidate, the No Land Tax party (whose platform according to their website is that rich people who own more than one house shouldn't have to pay tax on it), a walking Greens stereotype (old hippie chick, why don't they run one of their nice inner-city candidates?) and a Labor candidate who was surprisingly not terrible and named Ron Goodman so I could pretend that I voted for a portmanteau of Ron Swanson and Saul Goodman.

That sounds exactly like my electorate. I forgot about the No Land Tax candidate and the labour candidate.

There was a good independant, but it turned out they were for the electorate next to me, I voted at a place on the border between two. So I just exercised my democratic right to put Fred Nile and the CDP last. Labor will win my seat as comfortably as ever anyway

Same, put Fred Nile last.

Fred needs 2% of the vote to keep his job, lets hope we're not that stupid.

Independant number 1 for me though.

Although I'm pretty sure Labor will take Macquarie Fields.

Liberal candidate is Pat Farmer though.

Picking a theocrat above someone who is probably at worst a bit of a naive hippie is a bit stupid.

fred nile's group have been going around with signs about how voting for them means you won't get sharia law, ban mosques being built etc. Which is a bit amusing given they promote fundamentalist dogma to control lawmaking in close to the same way.

Yep, saw a link to one of their candidate's websites before where he put his opposition to sharia law on the same page as his policy to 'stone sodomites to death'.

The greens gave me their pamphlet first, so I voted them. That's pretty much my rule, first in best dressed.

Voted Liberal, but Labor will win back Rockdale. 2011 apparently was the first time in around 70 years that Labor hadn't held the seat.

Your Greens candidate looks very professional.

Not sure what's funnier, that or the Labor candidate for Lakemba being called Jihad.

I feel like I've f**ked her once.

EDIT: It could very well have been any alternative call center employee.

Chalk up another who went out of his way to put Fred Nile last.
