Don't. Feed. Troll...

We do desperately need to get rid of Peter Doust and his cronies, but the problem is there really isn't anyone floating around to take on the role. Mark Coyne's name has been floated about, but he has said he isn't keen on the job. Kerry Stokes was another floated about for buying the club, but baulked when it was made known that any sale would retain the current board.

i think I'd be a good candidate..

and unfortunately I'm serious..

Watched highlights. If they're any indication, I think we were even better under Price than what was shipped up tonight. We are going to challenge for the spoon.

Sadly no :( We won though - 9-6 and down a player. Led 7-2 at HT; niggled like 'Penguin' to get a guy sin binned at 7-4. Scored one, set up three and played most of the game. Not as good as I have been years gone by but was happy tonight. Even the Toohey's New can's tasted great :)

We've tried. We have the laziest supporter base when it comes to the elections. The worst thing that could happen was winning in 2010, as the resolve went out of the supporter base after 2009 and the club solidified their hold.

Nothing will happen for 10 years.

Voting the board out is a very difficult process. Whoever you want to install as a board member needs to have been a full voting member of St George Leagues for a minimum of 5 years. You would need virtually every Red V member to sign up as a voting member of both St George Leagues for a minimum of 12 months prior to the election. You would also need to organise for people to hand out flyers on election day, as the doormen at St George Leagues are "on leave" on election day, so are able to hand out how to vote flyers for the incumbent board.

Then, and only then, might you have a chance at getting a single seat on the St George Leagues board. To get onto the football club board is an entirely different beast.

Is Matt Elliott coaching director at the Dragons?

Well, he did play for us...

People have tried previously. I was involved in the process for 2008.

The issue wasn't the system back then; the issue was commitment to change.

Enough people have full memberships that we could run a successful coup. The problem is those people can't be arsed to get out and vote.

Commonwealth + ANZ so far. I just have a shit wage and only $50k savings.

Give Mortgage Choice or Aussie a try. When I got my first house all the major banks didnt want to know us. Mortgage Choice got us approved for some mob I had never heard of. After 6 months Westpac were pissing their pants to refinance us. You just need to get your foot in the door. I have a friend that is an Aussie rep, I can PM you her details if you like. When we bought our current house she got us a great deal without a mountain of paperwork.

Commonwealth was through Mortgage Choice. ANZ was through some other mob.

I need my foot in the door, but can't even get close to $400k ($320k + deposit with Comm, $340 + deposit with ANZ). Which means that unless suddenly I become aged over 55 overnight, I'm f**ked for the forseeable future. Comm Bank did look positive, as at the current interest rate I could have got just over $480k. But then they did some form of repayment test (ie. added 3 percentage points to the quoted rate) and said that since I couldn't fund that level of repayment on my current wage, they wouldn't lend me the money.

Just cannot see myself in the property market any time soon, unless my job moves me somewhere like Nyngan...

SGL - look regional as an investment.

do your research and pick somewhere with good potential for growth..

generally cheaper to buy initially, plus rental yields are generally higher too..

gives you a chance to get some equity which in turn makes it easier to borrow against..

yes, you don't get to move into your own place, but it gets you a step closer..

Also, you are usually pretty well served going through a mortgage broker.

Regional is the way to go. Mudgee had places for $150k. Not lucrative by any stretch, but affordable and once you get collateral you can look to buy your own off of it.
