Anyone been to Derby Day at Flemington? Is black and white necessary or can I get away with a different colour suit? lol

You can wear whatever colour you want...

Black & white is the theme, but it's not a rule..

Most there follow the theme, depends if you wanna be individual or not..

At various Derby days I've been to, I've worn black & white, I've worn grey suits, I've worn purple...

But then again, I've also carried toy hobby horses as part of my outfit at some races...

just got abused by our concreters because i told him it was my rostered saturday off tomorrow and the pour we are supposed to do today they made a complete mess of has been put off to tomorrow and i'll have to come in for it. done 5 of the last 7 (one of those being gf weekend that i had to beg borrow and steal to get out of) and on an average fortnight i do 2 less days then them (sundays) and they get to have 7 days off at home on their roster while i most likely have another 6 day working week to look forward to.

I wasn't exactly subtle when explaining this and pretty much told him to go f&*k himself. Civils supervisor seriously thought i was about to drop him.

being a 48 year old man whose son is also an engineer here makes it very awkward

Yep, cause then you have to play the role of stepdad to a co-worker..

Can be tough..

Maybe see if you two can keep your feelings at bay till at least one of you change companies..
