Number of players used isn't really a full picture of the injury toll, it's a statistic but by itself can't really be used to infer much. A club that has finished lower down on the table is going to be more likely to use more players as they drop out of form players and try new combinations etc. It also doesn't take in to account how long players were out for, for example, you could have used 33 players, but 5 of those may have only played 1 game or you could have lost a key player for 10 rounds and only had them replaced by one guy (Like we did with Manu). I'd argue the latter is probably more damaging that losing say 5 guys for 1 round each (depending of course on how good each player is).
I'm not trying to compare dick sizes or anything, but we made the finals on the back of some pretty significant (i.e. time spent off the field) injuries to: Manu Vatuvei, Bret Seymour, Simon Mannering, Sam Rapira, Brent Tate and Steve Price who didn't even play a game. In that group you have arguably the best Winger in the comp and the warriors MVP, one of our key playmakers, our captain, our best prop, an Australian rep centre and our former captain and most senior prop. That's a significant injury toll for any team to endure. On top of this we had the usual injuries you'd expect to pick up throughout the season. Based on this I think blaming lack of finals football on injury toll is a bit weak.
