Kungl is getting awfully cocky before a ball has even been kicked. I'm calling it now: the c**ks won't make the 8.

I actually think the Red V are a serious chance of the spoon. Not having a go, I just don't see the talent in the squad.

And yes I know we didn't beat you by much. Just can't see much to be positive about for 2013 for the Dragons.

If the Dragons had a better half to compliment Soward I'd actually be fairly confident of their chances of making the 8. At this stage, I think they'll just stagnate. They had a pretty horrible 2012 and the problems that existed have at least been altered.

Mind you, I rate Beale as a fullback and think he could be the next Boyd. (minus the strange daddy complex) I'm also caught up in the Cam King hype, reckon Merrin has the potential to be at least very good and the likes of Green, Cummins, Quinlan, de Belin, Harrison etc. could really surprise.

Had a real lol@souffs-BM moment tonight. Couldn't find my bloody car keys anywhere. Turned out I'd left them in the ignition several hours earlier. Thankfully no lol@souffs fans walked past my house this evening.

Be realistic- they wouldn't have known how to use them.
Probably would have left the car there thinking it was some kind of fandangled new security measure blocking the spot they shoved a butterknife or a screwdriver into.

Truth be told, BM is so dense he'd probably try to use a phillips head.

How so? It is a scientific fact that the Parra forum is the most hilarious on LU since Sheens has retired and Cronulla are half decent.

That said... Roosters have no excuse to not be there at the point end of the season and we'll cop it deservedly if they don't perform.

Well yeah. They came last. They hired a coach that hasn't had a good year in close to a decade. Their squad is still shit. Plenty of reason to be depressed.

Ricky Stuart took the Sharks to equal first in 08.

You're far from the only one with that opinion. I don't share it, but I'm always an incurable optimist at the start of the season.

Our pack is pretty decent - Weyman, Hunt, Merrin is an excellent front row rotation, and our back row has improved with the retirement of Young and the moving on of Scott (who was rubbish last year, when he wasn't injured), replaced by an exciting Frizell and a solid and experienced Harrison. Not to mention a very good young hooker rotation.

Our backline is another matter. Morris and Nightingale are world class, but the rest of it is a bit 50/50. Beale certainly has talent, but I'm not expecting immediate Boyd c.2010 performance from him. Coops is over the hill, while Chase Stanley and Daniel Vidot don't exactly look like the second coming of The Chin. Fien is Hornby v2.0. Drinkwater is a greenhorn. Soward had a poor 2012. Hopefully someone has reminded him that he used to have a running game.

Frankly, our hopes of a competitive season probably rest on the shoulders of 3 players: King, Drinkwater, and Soward. If the latter can get his shit together and the former two can begin to realise their potential, we might be knocking on the door of the top 8.

What if it's a rainy winter and they have to fly to a semi?:sarcasm:

Let us not even think about such a horror scenario.

Didn't realise we fielded a full-strength forward pack last night. Whilst I'd probably argue our side was closer to second-string than the Dragons' was (the golden argument of the trial period, and one I hate) I'd like to have seen us roll through them a bit better with the firepower that was on the park. Still, some apparent positives in the halves and outside backs, which is always reassuring.

Considering we were without Hunt and Weyman, and were playing Prior and De Belin at prop and Merrin at lock, you should have rolled over us.

@Didginub: ignoring the fact you edited my post, you're right. Prior is no use unless JT is playing, which he wasn't last night.

Watching the trial last night on the laptop, Matt Scott is just simply a beast, his hit ups are amazing.

Considering our backline only had 1 player in it that will be there coming rd 1 and even then he was out of position (Winterstein) I think we went alright. The 30 mins where the dragons dominated seemed to be thanks to a lot of handling errors by both our forwards and backs, we just didnt seem to have much ball and rightly let the dragons back into it. Bowens cousin looked alright for his 10 min cameo.
