Oscar Wilde quote of the day

A man who moralises is usually a hypocrite, and a woman who moralises is invariably plain.

Inglis Johns and Fittler on the footy show panel. Barely a brain cell between them.

I'm ok. I'm always ok. Just that video touched me. So many people dismiss bullying as a minor issue to look tough while there's all these kids killing themselves over it before they've even had a chance to live life. Our macho culture makes it hard to take school bullying seriously.

I'm willing to admit this video made me cry. Anyone who thinks school bullying is no big deal and victims should just "toughen up" should watch. But if you don't want to cry give it a miss.

Female on female bullying is f**king vicious and a horrifying thing to witness. A girl will pretty much psychologically eviscerate another girl. There is a certain brand of female nastiness that can really crush someone with low self esteem.

Of course boys get it too but I was fortunate enough to go to a school where that wasn't a problem among the males.

Went down to Coles, noticed they're now selling fifty shades of grey.

Wonder where they keep the porn for men?

Females can be bad, I think bullying stays with you, especially if you got it in your first years of school, which for most of us is our first real socialising agent, because there's always this belief that your parents loved you out of duty so when you go to school and get straight up rejection from everybody it makes you question whether you are likeable at all.

I remember when I was in kindergarten I had one friend and she hung out with the year six girls, who thought it was appropriate to make her choose between me and her other friend in kindergarten. She never chose me, once after being rejected I chased them and they ran away, I still feel the humiliation when I think about it and it was 18-years-ago.

In high school the fat kids used to tell me "why run when you can roll" a part of me still wants to run into them so they can see how fit I am now. Stupid and petty I know, but I always tried in sport in high school, despite being a fat and I didn't need that shit.

I was lucky enough to go to a school without any truly terrible people (that I know of). But the difference in the 21st century that wasn't there in the old days is bullies have access to you 24/7. In the old days you had to deal with it for 6 hours a day then you got a break. Now they're in your phone, in your computer, it can be 24/7 torment for upto a decade or more.

And because the worst kind of bullying isn't physical, it doesn't leave any marks or broken games, it can be tough to get taken seriously as a victim until it's too late. Like that girl in the video.

On a lighter note, GI has just got the highest score of the season in the passing comp on the footy show. Superstar!

Inglis is a mumbling tool, he comes across as a complete dullard on TV.
In real life he's genuinely funny and quick witted. Stage fright can affect anyone.
