I'm surprised that the fans have not come to the support of Gal, one of the finest clubmen we've had. I've already voiced my disapproval to the Club of their failure to support Gal in this issue. I certainly trust many more fans will do the same.

The NRL has the club by the balls with the 400k fine (suspended) plus the coach. The board can't really take them on too much in that situation. Having said that, the capitulation was ordinary. The club have a history of playing along with administration and getting nothing in return no reason for the current mob to do any different.

What are you lot on about? Club support. The only issue is the severity of the fine.

also
it happened while in another country and while banned .

not really anything top do with the club itself.

They probably should have said nothing

I don't think anyone suggests the club should have called the nrl a pack of merkins.

But I do think most of us expect them to respectfully disagree with the severity of the sanction while acknowledging it was the wrong thing to do.

Perhaps we are worried about the suspended fine, perhaps we are worried they won't let flanno back, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. And the board are right to be worried about that as the nrl have shown their vindictive colours here. Maybe I'd have done the same as the board, but that would make me a weak merkin too for not doing the right thing.

The club haven't failed to support him at all, mate. The club are powerless on this one.
They didn't fine him any money at all, which is surprising. The clubs stand is any appeal made by Gallen, must be made between Gallen and the NRL.
Remembering, Gallen is still suspended from the club also.

The last thing the club/board need to do is go into war with the NRL who have been pretty good to us in the last 18 months.
I don't see how we can support Gallen either, he called them merkins and then deleted the tweet. That's pretty much guilty.

And taking a potential aussie jumper off him

Diddums. Poor old Gall will have to undergo some training! Could ask Flanno for some help :)

We are a rabble. Many forum members support our star half pissing in his mouth and Captain tweeting obscenities. It's not like we won the comp. Figure it out. 5/8 out of control and Captain suspended and clearly believing he is the Cronulla Sharks. We get the spoon. Any link?
No coach, captain or CEO. Gall won't get suspended by NSW. But maybe dropped , due to form ,injury or age.

Our defence seems to be bubbling or repulsive tweets are not as bad as other things. That's it.
Some of you lot would think Pistorius hard done by , if a Shark.

The penalty is waaaay outta whack. The only bloke to come outta this with integrity is Judge Conlon. Sure, Gal made a blue, but it would seem the issue has been blown outta all proportion as a result of Smith's bruised ego and Keogh's grovelling. The bloke's done more for the club than probably the whole Board put together. They at least shoulda protested against the outlandish penalty.

We got the spoon because we had more injuries than any other side, not because gal was plotting to sent a naughty tweet.

And Oscar kneed not come into the conversation!

Gday Popper, not sure if you follow the sharks pages on facebook mate but there is a tonne of support on there for him. From people trying to organise a boycott of games, angry letters, petitions, support pages and i even saw one bloke trying to get everyone to throw in ten bucks to pay the fine for Gal. Cant say i agree with most of the suggestions but there is definitely plenty of passion and angry people behind Gal on this mate. Check it out if you can.

If you thought there was some lunatics in here wait till you see some of the crowd over there!

According to the smh , the NRL paid 80k of Galls legal bills to fight ASADA. How low is that? Should organise a march. Poor old unsupported Gall. Jeez, he has dug a hole. Better hope he beats Anthony Watts. What's the odds on an impending retirement?

NRL trying to get some of their outlay back eh?

If that's true (& it's a massive if ), Gal can hardly claim the NRL didn't help him.

Not only Gal but the other players as well were assisted with legal fees..The article in today's Herald spells it out.
All Gal has to do is deny it and I doubt he will.

I agree webShark, he has dug himself a massive hole. He's looking very isolated and petulant.

The SMH story fits with Keogh's comments about the NRL being supportive of the players and club.

Harsh fine or not, this all started because the players took something. Gallen must have selective memory.

As Hindmarsh has pointed out the players have education sessions and are the one's responsible for what goes into their bodies.

Duped? Maybe. But why so angry at the NRL and not the coach, trainer or sports scientist? Duped would imply one or all of the above caused the problem. The NRL didn't dupe him.

I still don't understand why Noyce's redundancy caused Gal to lash out at the NRL. The only explanation is he was gassed at the time. If that's the case he just needs to come out and apologise, show remorse, stick his hand up and own the mistake and talk about how he's excited for 2015, moving forward and getting the Sharks back on track.

Instead he has done the exact complete polar opposite. He's dragged the club into another media storm and challenging the fine because "last time I didn't challenge something I regretted it"

He has a massive chip on his shoulder re ASADA. He needs to find a way to get past this or he will be no good to anyone, including himself. He is letting this eat him up inside.

The player's dream big, they want to win the comp. That takes dedication and discipline. All of the successful clubs have that culture. From what I've been hearing he has been a repeat offender, just does as he pleases with regard to team stuff. The coach has been given clear instructions to reel him in upon return.

Good comments there SS.

He is unlucky but very lucky in regards to ASADA.

We need his leadership to move forward but he's dragging us back.

350k set aside for the 17 players legal fee's and gallen got 80k of it.

I get you wanna back your player/captain but he needs to pull his head in.

Since the handing down of the fine has Gal actually come out and complained about it himself? Or is it all just media speculation and fan backlash?

Good point Chewie , I've heard him say nothing.

The media is reporting he will contest it but is that even true ?

Anyway, the bottom line is... Stay out of trouble & the media will have nothing to bullshit about!
