Everything that has been reported about Gal lately seems to me to reveal what we could call the 'net result' of two years of complete stress / agony. His close friends/advisors need to watch him closely and help him avoid doing something even more stupid.

One comment that he made that worried me was: "Boxing is a good focus for me right now", which seems to indicate that he's not thinking about footy at all, let alone preparing for a good season with the Sharks.

Selfishly speaking (i.e. thinking of the Sharks), he could have a 'dud year'. Thinking of him, though, I hope his 'bottling up his depression' doesn't result in something worse. I don't think so - he's probably too robust a character to 'do something stupid' (IMO, and yes, I have met him, but I don't KNOW him), but stranger things have happened.

Powder-keg situation. Hopefully he takes it out on Anthony Watts.

What Gallen said was stupid.
The punishment he got was excessive
The club's hands are tied because they need to keep the NRL happy to avoid having to pay the suspended part of their fine and to get their coach back

It's a f**k up galore, but at the end of the day, Gallen did this all by himself.

Good on the club for not backing him.

I think what he was saying there is that boxing is a good distraction for him, as he's been under intense media scrutiny for 2 years due to this ASADA bullshit.

Watts will likely end up with his head caved in.

I agree Bluefox, unfortunately Gallen has born the brunt of all the media attention re ASADA and that is showing.

He can't change the past, we all make mistakes, its how you recover and move forward. He's been a warrior for the club and can have a great legacy but right know he's not being smart about any of this.

He will be fine, he just needs time.

The SMH legal fees story has probably been selectively leaked, which tells me that they're trying to correct public opinion re the level of support offered and that they are really p1ssed........(hence $50k fine)

I'm surprised that the fans have not come to the support of Gal, one of the finest clubmen we've had. I've already voiced my disapproval to the Club of their failure to support Gal in this issue. I certainly trust many more fans will do the same.
hey Popper there is a facebook supporter group for Gal with over 1500 members. they've bombarded the NRL with emails supporting Gal and wanting Smith sacked.

No way should Smith be sacked.

He's an immense upgrade on Gallop.

You think this ASADA shit was bad, imagine how much worse it would've been (and would still be) if we still had Gallop running the show.

The SMH legal fee story is very unfairly reported. Gallen (and the others) would likely have had no knowledge that his legal fees were paid in part by the 'NRL' as the funds came via the RLPA.

If this is a selective leak, then it's a f**kin dog act by the NRL trying to save face. The Sharks players or their managers would have requested or been offered RLPA assistance with no known involvement of the NRL - the SMH (and the NRL by association) are trying to suggest that they went to Paul Gallen's house and gave him a cheque for $80,000 and a nice warm hug which is bullshit.

I'm just as angry at that SMH story and the associated leak as I am with any of the other petty bullshit the NRL has done in this situation.

Okay, that's good (to both comments) ;->

Thanks, Chewsta & Imasharkie. I just checked out Facebook. It's really good to see almost unanimous support for one of our greats. I certainly hope our Board takes note of this and does not dismiss it out of hand.

Sorry to be the bearer of sad news.

That is not the real Frenz posting.

The Real Forum Frenz passed away and went to the big Thread in the Internet Sky.

They had a requiem Mass for the Cap'n last Tuesday, on Wednesday morning they a memorial service for Frenzy, and on Thursday they had a Hindu burial service for the Duck.

The Authorities are planning pauper burials for the other 4 identities as soon as relatives are located and informed.

The Schitzo won't be back.
