Surely their papers are stamped at Panthers .

I know its different but its the same principle. If you are contracted to another club don't wear a different jersey.

There is a clear agenda. It was done to excite their fans and get them invested in the club.

We can debate the conspiracy over the CCTV picture but I'd went my pants if I saw Brandon Smith in a Panthers jersey. And it would encourage plenty of other fans to buy tickets, get a club membership etc.

Does the job for 2023. Doesn't help the 2022 year though

Its the air of expectation that does half the job. Announcing a big signing like this gets fans excited. It can have an indirect effect on 2023.

Anyway if their performances in 2022 are piss poor then they won't make much on their bottom line in 2023.

Bullshit it doesn't
If it wasn't exactly what he and Bulldogs wanted i would want him sacked to be honest. He put it on the pose for a photo with former Panthers Gus and Baz who poached him from us.
Supposedly the photo was to be released at the appropriate time. But there's no appropriate time while he's a Panther. So there's no reason he should be wearing it until he's not contracted to us anymore. They should have waited until he was a Bulldog for that photo op. But clearly they wanted the photo out before that time. Not necessarily now. But clearly it wasn't in 12 months time. Or else they would have waited to get a current photo for release
If armchair critics like us can see obviously this is how to thwart some master plan then it's probably not real. It's probably just him brown noting mate.

Reed Mahoney meeting with the Dogs gets leaked, Kikau gets leaked and it's all the Dogs are throwing their weight around meeting and dealing with big names now that Gus is back watch out type of thing.

I wonder if Reed and Kiks share the same manager?

Let them do what they want, who cares? They've spent 5 years in the basement, have just blown their cap on the edges and their best spine player has played like 4 average games in the spine. Good luck to them.

They haven't taken one player that we'd want to keep in the circumstances. Burton & Kikau at significant unders sure, but that's not realistic.

Unlikely, unless another club pays to move someone on to us. Not much left in the kitty.
The majority of the spots left in the top 30 will be filled internally. Apart from a back.
If he has a good pre season expect Hopgood to step up next year.
What about Lindsay Smith, and Eddie Blacker?

This is how you buy time for your juniors to develop. Gus did the same thing for us. Brought in Soward, Manu, Kite, Brown, Taylor. Brought Wallace back.

Gives the juniors another 12-18 months to find their feet in NSW Cup, instead of being thrown to the wolves on NRL before they're ready.

Judge the Dogs again in 3-5 years. Nothing happens overnight. But they can at least try and be competitive until the premiership window opens up.

They have spent a lot of money on promises. Fair to say there is talent there all the same.

Assuming they have money to keep said juniors

The rules allow Kikau to be signed this far out. Posing in their colours was also not illegal, but not the right thing to do... wait until 1 November 2022 for that.

Exactly, Canterbury now is roughly what Penrith was around 2011-12. It's just that the Dogs have more in the cap to play with, our cap was shot with what Leary, etc.. had done in the mid/late 00s.
