Geez AFL is going gangbusters with a few of their clubs just about going arse up

How can the Swans blame the Rugby World Cup for lack of $$$$$$?

Surely the Olympics would've had a greater affect?

Stupid game anyway :p

It's too pathetic to even be associated with the word 'sport'.

Good stuff, I hope the Swans go under. A small step in eradicating this blight from Australia.

You're similar to the worst type of rugby union apologist. Views like yours have no place within a sport such as rugby league.

You should see some of the afl sites and how they treat rugby league....what Tam said is extremely tame.....to what I have seen on Big Footy....as just one example.

Insider information (nudge nudge) would suggest that the Swans have come very close to breaking even this year.

After posting consistent profits for the late nineties, the loss last year was a bit of a bitter pill for management.

Crowds are apparently 25% over what they were expecting, which has just about made up for the sponsorship shortfall left by a few large backers moving to the RWC early this year.

The upshot of all this is they won't be asking for handouts after all (though the media probably won't make any noise about this...)

wow the bandwagon is getting bigger

The thing about the bandwagon is that, although most will fall off it when the Swans start to play badly, clever promotion will ensure some will stay. The more it happens, the more the core support builds. Of course, if the AFL/Swans don't keep up their promotion, a run of success will add nothing in the long term, just as IMO the Storm have been badly let down by the NRL.

I think you should revise that Dean. Past adminstrators of the NRL.

David Gallop can only work with what he's got. New and bigger TV deals will hopefully change all that.

True, it was the past administrators who failed to capitalise on the 99 GF win. But Gallop has been party to some poor media deals. The current radio deal was signed when he was NRL CEO. I would have thought he would have been involved in the current Nine deal in his previous role, but I wouldn't swear to that - perhaps someone knows for certain.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-Gallop per se. I do think the NRL as an organisation has let down the Storm in some of its deals, though, and could learn a lot from the way the AFL has supported its Sydney and Brisbane teams.

I agree that Tamazoid went over the top but that is nothing compared to what them AFL tossers have to say about our game. I think they feel they have to get us on something seeing as though Melbourne is Australia's SECOND largest city.
