Switching back to League from Union

Hi all sorry for the random question. I haven't played League in 3/4 years, purely because I moved to an area of the country where Union is bigger (I'm in the U.K.). Last year I moved back and the Union season finishes this week so I'm hoping to play League again through the summer. I've just turned now 20 years old.

I have a couple of questions one of which is what position I should be looking at. I used to play second row/13. I guess I'm now around 5'9/10 and just off 90kg. I'd say my strengths are my work rate (I love being involved as much as I can), my passing and my ability to pass and create space. My pace is pretty average and I'll probably have to develop my stamina as I go along as well.

Having played before I know the fitness side of the game is different but what else would you guys say I should be looking out for, particularly as this will be the first time I've played Legaue against fully grown men.

Sorry again for the random question but thanks for reading and hopefully for the advice.

Despite them adopting the metric system, Brits don't typically use Kgs when talking about a person's weight.

In attack: the last couple years they have really targeted the play the ball. Got to use your foot or you will give away penalties. Look out for that. Also if you move off the mark the ref will call you back.
In defense: Beware of decoys. They are everywhere. It is actually a position now. They call it edge forward. Sometimes they get the ball but mostly they just pretend like they are meant to get it. They are also cracking down on offside penalty so if you are unfit you could be a burden on your team.
From what I can work out lock is basically prop now. Don't expect to wear the 13 anymore. You are an edge forward/decoy now. As a decoy you have to make sure you run at the defenders inside shoulder. Talk to your coach about this he will be able to tell you why, I don't have time because I am supposed to be at work.

Enjoy the physicality and decent contact again! Plus you will see more ball and have to tackle much more .

Thank you. Edge forward as in second row? I used to play more of a ball playing role at loose forward and I’ve been playing fly half/centre in Union. A couple of lads in the Union team do the same switch over summer and they’ve said that stand off will probably suit me best.

I’m fit in relation to my union team but like you say there’s a big difference between that and league, not sure whether to leave it a few weeks first before going training to try and get some more sessions in on my own.

What position should I be expecting to play (apparently not back row anymore)? Did anyone have any advice about stepping up from under xyz to open age rugby? Those were my questions.

Dunno why 90% of people are being merkins but whatever.

Back row sounds plausible to me. Moving to open age.. not really any specific advice. Everyone will be a bit bigger than you remember I suppose, and probably hung over before most games.
