Probably. Not a better player than Kewell, but without the baggage and circus that comes with it

Hardly. Circus mean publicity, publicity means memberships and arses on seats, memberships/arses on seats means big dollars, not to mention increased ratings which certainly doesn't hurt either.

Don't get me wrong i'm a big fan of Emerton, i'm also a big fan of Blackburn (laugh away) and f**k knows losing an experienced prem player like him right now is the last thing Rovers needed, but there's no way in hell he will bring anywhere near the benefits mentioned to Sydney as what Kewell will to Melbourne. Lets face it those benefits are solely what these signings are all about because christ knows the league needs them to lift the flagging interest over the last few years.

Better signing by a fair way in my opinion . I reckon he will stand out more then Kewell and is less injury prone them him. Kewell didn't play Premier League for a few years before coming over and Emerton is fresh from playing it so I think he'll be much more better for the run.

Is he the first player to come directly from the EPL to A-League since It's establishment?. I know Yorke came from Birmingham to Sydney FC but were Birmingham in the Premier League at the time?

Emerton is indeed the 1st to come direct from EPL. I predict Kewell will spend most of his time out injured

At this time in their careers, Emerton is better.

Kewell = Better signing off the pitch
Emerton = Better signing on the pitch

IMO he should be made captain ahead of that useless hack McFlynn.

Agreed.

He'll probably play more games as well.

A great week for the A-League. And the Mariners have signed...........Amini on loan. :?

HARRY Kewell has sparked a massive rush for Melbourne Victory memberships.
The signing of the Socceroos star has already paid dividends for Victory, with more than 2500 fans buying memberships since last weekend's announcement. At this pace of sales, Victory looks like reaching its cap of 18,000 members before its A-League season kicks off against Sydney FC on October 8.
In the first three days this week memberships jumped from 11,376 to about 13,900 in response to Kewell signing.

"It has been extraordinary," Victory spokesman Trent Jacobs said yesterday. "The way it's trending, it's not beyond the realms of possibility to sell out our memberships. "The response from the members has been unbelievably positive about the outlook for the A-League season, and especially the first two games against Sydney and Heart." Victory decided to cap its 13-game membership at 18,000 to allow as many casual fans as possible to attend games. A spike in Victory shirt sales can also be expected when the new adidas home and away strips become available next month and it is known what number Kewell will wear.

The A-League has turned things around significantly. I don't care what anyone says.

2 huge domestic names and 2 very decent players. It's what the league needed and will help the national team in the long and short term.

Might attempt to try watch a bit more of the A-League this season.
There really isn't teams that appeal to me though...makes it hard to get into it

Have a dozen beers before a game and I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

It's much more enjoyable than getting pissed at a league game.

You try singing at a league game whilst tanked. It usually doesn't go down too well with the locals.
